| 07-06-2003, 07:37 PM | #19 |
So, as it is a skinning contest, i assume it will be ready unwrapped? I mean, you didn´t say this is an unwrapping contest... |
| 07-06-2003, 07:39 PM | #20 |
whats unwraped? still how do you know what part you put ur skin on the model. what if ur lef is on the head and the arm skin is on the body?? |
| 07-06-2003, 07:41 PM | #21 |
If it is readily unwrapped then you´ll jsut get a sheet where the correct locations of things have been marked. You then paint it and, ehh, send it somewhere i think... But i dunno, never skinned a home made model... |

come on calm down. They're gonna give you a UVmap once the model is finished. Don't panic for that! |

i prefer to skin home-mode models over blizz one's blizz's unwrapping on some models is complete SHIT. |

Some models? try almost every single model... I've never skinned anything except blizz models. Skinning something that isnt unwrapped in some odd screwed up way will be nice. |

Can we rewrap the skin if we please? |

And please, let's get back on topic and keep posting concepts and descriptions! I see very nice ones there! And I agree that humanoid forms are more versatile, but I don't know... Some ones posted are very cool and versatile as well. Anyway kep them coming! |

Ok, heres a actual  idea. Do not have any concept art or pre-existing skin on the model, You might give skinners a idea of what it is too be, but if not you could add points for creativity instead. The contest should last 1 month, to give skinners a chance to enter at different points, and to have time to polish their skin, Personally, i thikn you should have more than one model, but if not thats ok, You should allow a maximum of Three entries per user, You should allow copy and paste (CnP), but deduct several points for it, heres a suggestion system Points Creativity (20 points) Color (20 points) Detail (30 points) Contrast (10 points) Brightness (10 points) Resoulution(10 points) Deductions CnP (-40 points) Stolen (Disqaulify) Blurry (-10 points) Bad Color (-5 points) Bad Detail (-5 points) You should have 3 Skinners/Moddelers judge the work, and preferably unbaised ones, Each should be qaulified, and preferably a moderator or better, This is just a suggestion however, so, do whatever you want, Hope you use some. Edit- Added... Also, you should have some kind of specail awards, ie Best Overall skin (Winner) Second Best skin Thrid Best skin Best Newb skin Most Creative skin Strangest skin Funniest skin Coolest skin Also, Judges should be the best skinners, Giving newbie skinner much more of a chance, The 10 best skins should be chosen by the public, then reviewed one by one by the judges, each being designated a award, Some of which the judges would have to come up with, and release the results like a few days after, But you should make it that whoever enters in the contest is willing to allow there skin to be put into a pack (Out of the best 10 skins) and be available for download, But, that's only if the judges want. Another, but wierd idea would be to allow team skinners, IE 3 people can take a skin, the first person details it, The second person adds, and the thrid person adds more, and they do this until it's the best it can be, yet thats completely optional, and might give some teams a unfair advantage over the solo skinners. Really, the contest sounds fun, and i really would want to enter, but do you have any idea of when it will begin? There should be some encouragement to 'noob' skinners, and there should be tips from the judges of what catches their eyes. -Zap |

You pretend you can start in a week or less :D Also, this may be offtopic, but how in the wc3imageviewer can you get a skin shown on a model WITHOUT importing it straight in to the MPQ. |

Just save it in the war3 dir with the path you would use if you would import it into the MPQ. ex. war3\units\human\uther\uther.blp |
