Renugaid, can you make it so Strider's sword is half-broken? Before they got to Rivendell Narsil wasn't yet reforged, but he still used it broken. Take care. |

Good news and bad news. The copy of 3IC that Renugaid had looks pretty recent! I guess I won't need to start over on that front. This is good in the sense that dozens of hours of work are saved. Bad in that it means the next maps, for the sake of continuity, would have to be modeled after more ICE/MERP maps. Hmm. Renugaid's Helm's Deep is an older version. The playable "wrong" version before I started over with more correct topography. It was fun, just not correct. I think it even had a blowable horn in the Burg that would make the orcs run for their lives. Heh. Anyway, I'll sort it out and let you know. Take care. |

ill try to skin it so that it looks half broken. So that we can make him use a skinned Anduril before amon hen falls (sorry havent reviewed the book in some time so i cant remember when he reveals his true image). But itll work alot better with this new model of frostmmourne because it is much thinner and itll be harder to see that it has just been reskinned to look broken. thnx |

Just letting u know that we all need FT before we can really do anything. And i dunno whether or not it would be wise to continue editing the old maps with wc3 until you guys get FT. Another thing, i spent some time writing up some ideas for the mod during school, these ideas are to add gameplay elements in our mod that no other LOTR mod has managed, these may or may not pull the mod away from the realism of the books that we our trying to achieve. I still need to type them up, when they are done ill post them. This brings me to another point, we need to keep this as close to tolkiens mind as we can, but aswell we need to satisfy the needs of gamers. In other words we cant just create these realistic maps that end up being really boring for the end user. So we need to discuss ways in which we can manage these aspects of the mod. About the site. I have a friend that can develop a forum for us, im sure he is keen just to show his skills, but the only problem is gettin our forum hosted somewhere. What do you guys think? |

He revieled himself to some after the encounter through the Palantir, I believe. I dunno, I'll have to check my LotR lore again. As for skinning, I already PMed bigmig, but I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks, as of tomorrow. This isn't too bad as I can get going again, after I get back. On the plus side, I'll also be able to dl some of the material you guys already have (hopefully) unless we are starting fresh? I know it's pretty morbid, but starting fresh might be required, if we are to get our heads thinking as one. It seems to me as if you've already skipped ahead to helm's, which will be useful, but without all of us having TFT, this will be a very dificult project..... If need-be, I can jsut post my skins on here, and just contribute to the map, not taking part in the nitty gritty, since I am lost to everything that you've already done (on RoC no different...) Still, lemme know whats goin on, and I'll get back to you in a few days (my grandparents have a comp, so I can still post threads..jsut no skinning work...) I've already told bigmig, but my grandparents have a scanner I believe, in case any concept art is called for. I consider myself pretty good, and would be able to whip up practically anything! Hoping for the best, in time to come! :foot: p.s. I have no modeling skills whatsoever, but I'm very good at making skins. For stuff liek the broken sword, I wouldn't be able to do much (except maybe alpha some stuff out) but I could really make some stuff shine. Again, when I get back (or jsut pm them to me while I'm gone, so I can get an idea of what I'm doin) I'll start skinning, post-haste. I really hope you guys are going over the top, and that everything, from the orcs to the buildings will be fully realised. |

I know quite a bit about the LotR books, so if anyone needs some info, you could try asking me. Hey, BTW, with that Aragorn model, you may want to make his hair black, just for the sake of the movie. |

i have borrowed my friends FT(he doesnt play much) and now that ive seen all the new units i might be able to change some of the existing characters. The blood elves will do great in the battle with Gil-galad. That aragorn model isnt skinned yet. But we need more people who have an in depth understanding of the lotr books so Juvat maybe you could help with which parts of the book we will cut from the game. renugaid |

Before the sword was reforged Aragorn didn't use Narsil/Anduril. He used a sword of his own, while Narsil was in Rivendell, protected by Elrond. The sword was reforged and given to Aragorn after the Council of Elrond. Just thought you should know. Anyway, I have extensive knowledge of all (I repeat, ALL) Tolkien's books, speak Sindarin and am learning Quenya, so if you want to know something, feel free to send me a PM. EDIT: Quote:
He revealed himself to Sauron, when he used Palantir and "kicked Sauron's ugly but, um... eye" :) Others have already known who he is, but it is at that point that he revealed himself as the Heir of Isildur and has shown his power. |

no your thinking of when he reveals himself to sauron. i mean when he was in the boat with frodo and sam and as they passed something frodo turned around and saw that he looked different. Cant remember it that clearly but im sure it happened. Heaven should know which part im talking about. renugaid |

Right, when Frodo turns and Aragorn's face appears different to him, more... royal. But he didn't reveal himself then, Frodo already knew that he was royal. It was just the face of a proud man, an Heir, on the most important journey of his life. Aragorn was no longer just a ranger, but a leader revealed. However, nothing changed in the Brothership (except the parting, of course) until Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn met the Riders of Rohan. That's the first time Aragorn publicly declared that he was Aragorn, son of Arathorn, heir of Isildur. |

so when we get to that part we will use another skin and model to show the difference. (unlike the book itll be harder to explain that he looks more royal than just show it visually). renugaid |

But I'm not so sure about the other things. For instance, it was written that Aragorn was gifted with the heirlooms of his house, namely the ring, Brahir, or Barahir, or something like that, as well as the shards of Narsil. The Sceptre of Anuminas was withheld by Elrond until Aragorn came into his kingship. I'm almost sure it mentions somewhere that he actually carried the shards with him, and I thought I remember reading somewhere that he actually drew the hilt at one point for some reason. Argh. I only have the trilogy, the Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales, so I'm sort've at a loss when it comes to technical details like this. It's worth looking into though, especially since I don't remember ever reading the shards were kept in Rivendell. Methinks that's purely a movie invention. renugaid wrote: Quote:
Gandalf, on the other hand, ought to be completely reskinned after his death in Moria. For obvious reasons. I'm still waiting on TFT to arrive. Has anyone looked at the old shots (http://www.bellsouthpwp.net/~ninquenor/war3.rts)? Any comments on 3IC? The Balrog? I may be getting ahead of myself a bit here, but I definitely want to be the one doing Moria. :) Take care. |

Firstly, I agree with Heaven about the change with Aragorn. He didn't look physically different. Tolkien is trying to say that Aragorn gave off a more royal, and kingly vibe than before, where he was just seen as a simple ranger. About the screenshots on the website, I can't really comment on the maps, but the Balrog needs one or two changes. Theyre just obvious changes, but still. The team colour on his shoulders needs to go, and I think that he should have less fire at the front of his body, and more coming out from his back (if that's possible). Bye. |

One more thing I forgot to say. Those hobbit holes need to be made bigger, and need a good skinning. |
