Well this may look a little bit stupid...

I use a Mac, so, I must extract anything from the MPQs uing MPQ2K. I extracted a .bdl file and saved it in my desktop, but, Photoshop won´t open it. It must be a .tga file, but how do I save it like this?

I think the only way you can add team-color to a place where there werent teamcolor in the first place, I s by model-editing!

I could be wrong though

As a model editor, I must now say that although you can add teamcolor by model editing, the best way is by messging with alpha channels.

FFoeNikZ: Well I can't vouch for mac but as far as I know the only image files for warcraft are .blp. If that is what you have then a program like wc3viewer or image extracter can be used to convert to .tga.

Team color is definately in the skin. If you don't believe me a good example is the jaina skin. The runes on her cape on the skin are black but in the game they are team color. If you look at the alpha the runes have been alphaed.

Well, I´m making progresses. I could convert it into a .tga! But... In PhotoS7, how do you smudge only a small area (example: eyes), and not the hole skin? Can you give me some advice on fading?

FFoeNikZ:
1. Use the smudge tool. It is in the tools palete. If you can't find it it migh be listed as blur tool or sharpen tool. If you find one of those right click it (command click on mac) until the smudge tool is visible. Select and enjoy!
2. Define fading.

Fading... the cmmd+shift+F tool, "Fade Brush tool" (well, I usually use the brush tool).

There are many options, and, I am not so good at fading skins.

Or shading? Which is the right one to make, ummm, well... shadows? :bgrun:

I'm sorry but I haven't heard of the fade brush. I searched but I couldn't find it. Could you post a screenshot of the tool?
What are you doing shadows on skins for?

How would I alpha a selected part of an image? I tryed selecting what I wanted alphaed by using the lasso tool but it wouldn't work.

This may be most stupid question ever asked...

How do I take a screenshot of a program? Do I need another program to do that?

I´m shading the skins to add a cool effect. Am I being stupid? At the moment I use the Dodge Tool to do that. 8))

bisMARCK102:
For PSP: If you are editing a skin that already has an alpha channel then follow this. On the tool bar do these things in order
1. Masks>Load From Alpha Channel>Alpha 1
2. Masks>View Mask
3. Masks>Edit.
4. Now use black to add the alphaed areas and white to remove them and show the skin.

For Photoshop: (I've never actually done this on Photoshop so let me know if it doesn't work.
1. In the layers palette click the channels tab.
2. Click the Alpha 1 channel.
3. Use step 4 of the above. (If you can't see the skin under the alpha channel try setting it to a lower opacity. Just remember to set it back to the origional before you finnish.

FFoeNikZ: Hit printscreen on your keyboard. Then open a paint program and hit paste. Edit as you like and save.

Do you mean burn tool? Because the dodge lightens. I still don't see the fade brush.

Usually I paint the areas I want to shade in a dark color, and then I use the dodge tool. Recently I have been using both, the dodge and the burn.

What is this printscreen? And the fade is actually under Edit: Fade (shift+cmmd+F). If you select it after using a brush tool, it will be Fade Brush Tool (shift+cmmd+F).

i have a question for you. i wish to alpha out part of a model. (make it invisible.) specifically the mask thing on the watcher's head. with photoshop, how can i do this?

FFoeNikZ: Sounds good.
Duh. Now I see it. Here is how to use it though I don't think it will give you the shadow effect you hoped for.

First open the skin you want to use. Now the fade brush is pretty much the same as painting a layer on top of your skin and then setting its opacity and style. So here we go. Say I want to make Arthas wear a see through veil over his eyes (I don't know why but anyway...). You would paint over the area of the veil in a dark version of the color you want. Then use the fade tool. It will affect whatever you did last. So in this case it will tweak the painted veil. So you set the opacity to like 50% and the blend mode to screen or overlay as you like and voila! You have your veil. For shadow you should play around with the different blend modes. I suggest the burn and hard light modes. Hope that I finaly answered your question.

Oh, printscreen takes a snapshot... oh, wait... you're on mac right? Maybe you don't have a print screen. Sorry about that.

robokill:
For instructions on how to alpha look at my last post. You may run into trouble because I think that the watcher doesnt actually have a face underneath the mask, though. But open the skin and take a look. If her face and mask are separate the just alpha the mask.
