One of the bigest problems I had as a newbie skinner was trying to figure out how to work the dang painting programs. To save you the trouble of pulling out your hair I've created this thread to ease some of your skinning woes. Feel free to post any questions pertaining to Photoshop or Paintshop here. I'm sorry but I can't give help on any other programs but I can give general advice if necessary. I also invite other experts to post answers to questions. That being said, ask away. *Notice* Please specify what program you need help with. Thankyou. I can give advice on anything from skins to making sigs or what have you. |

I'm still stumped on the Invisi-Skin problem with Photoshop 7. I've downloaded the Targa update from Adobe, and put it into the Plug-Ins/Save Filters (or something) directory, but no matter what options I try, I still get an invisible skin. Saikann was kind enough to convert my skin for me, so it's not a problem with the photoshop file. Could you be so kind as to tell me exactly what options you pick (24 bit? 32 bit? RLE compression?) when you save the project as a TGA? |

what color/alpha % is blizzard's team color? |

Well Biflspud it seems like one of two problems, in my mind anyway. One, did you save it with an alpha channel? That was a problem for me. Also I doubt the bit ratio matters but I do mine in 32 bit. Finally, make sure that it is uncompressd or has no compression whatsoever. The second possibility requires some explanation. Does the unit show up in the game but as just a shadow? Do it not show up when you view it in the WE? That my be a problem with the paths in the importer. Hope that is of some help. P.S. I've never had to use the targa script so I'm not sure if that is your problem. You might make sure you installed it properly. One more thought: you might try importing rather that opening the file in Photoshop or vice versa. MantisScreamer: I'm still confused on that one so I'll have to ask for some help my self. It seems that in the alpha channel a black is what erases the skin. On the Blizzard skins that shows up as team color but it is also used as a way to alpha out parts of a model. My best guess: try a color just ever so slightly lighter that black when you do the alpha. I invite anyone who knows a better answer to post it here. |

I think that alpha color of blizzard's teamcolor is 98% black. |

I'm testing it now... I tried 98% black. Steps: Chose color black. In mode I selected normal. Opacity set to 98%. Flow set to 100%. It didn't work, what did I do wrong? |
