You can probably get all of the information you need from wacom.com Myself, I have a 9x12, for about two years now. I paid $1000 cdn for it, but it was a worthwhile purchase. And indeed, there is little enough room, for I put it in my lap to draw/paint with. It's holding up quite well, but it is a little battered around the edges. But then, I could take more care with it . . . The Intuos II is about the best you can get. You wouldn't be getting a CintiQ now, and as for tablets outside the wacom label, well, I couldn't say how trustworthy they'd be. More replaceable, if nothing else. |

What's all this jibber-jabber I hear about tablets? Do they really make coloring stuff that much easier? In my day we used good old fashioned iMac hockey-puck mice. |

well thnx anyone... to get one thing straight, i'm NOT some spoilt brat. i'm getting atablet, yes, but not a WACOM, some 2nd hand tab purchassed over the i-net, but its better then a maouse right? that why i need to know those specs like pressure points etc, to compare and see if i'm not getting screwed too much :D |

Tablets last a long time I think. I treated mine like crap and it still works. So don't try to save money. Try to get the biggest and best one you can get. It will last a long~ time. I have the cheapest one. I think it is the first graphire 4x5. Got it for like $60 many years ago. I want to get a bigger one. Mine has 512 pressure level. It's very good. But sometimes it feels like it is not sensitive enough. I wish I had more control over the pen. Try to get 6x8 or bigger. |

All of them comes with a mouse. But the mouse does not work like a conventional mouse. It acts like a tablet, without the pressure. So the mouse is limited to the tablet surface. Just use your regular mouse. |

From what I can tell, a tablet probably won't directly improve your art; rather, it allows you to work in a fraction of the usual (mouse) time, once you get used to it, letting you do more art in less time, which indirectly helps you improve. The reasons it decreases time from the mouse is the pressure sensitivity allows you to do thick/thin, pale/dark lines without having to meticulously adjust the colour and brush size in your graphics program every time. I've also seen a few mentions of tinkering with settings to allow you to paint with more than one colour at a time, which mice simply cannot do. I haven't actually gotten to use mine, yet, but that's what I've come to think after studying digital art done by mouse and by tablet, and the time it takes to complete them. |

good idea :D and i guess the main reasen why i want this tab is becouse of teh time... i mean, that contest entry is taking me forever... :( its going to be a masterpiece though =P just got word about what i'm going to get: WACOM... A5 format :D |

well mine is an aiptek hyperpen... i think its a 6x8 but i dont know any of it's specific stuff... (dont know where the box is)... ://// its plenty big enough and it has enough pressure sensitivity for me but i havent tried any other one and im guessing a wacom brand one would be higher quality. i also dont know how much it costs cuz i got it as a gift... and if you do a lot of art on the computer... a wacom is the most useful tool you can buy! i think its pretty easy to draw with a mouse, but the most useful part of wacoms is the pressure sensitivity... and erwtie since line weight is a major part of your art, you neeeeed a wacom! |

I used one a few years ago in a computer art class and hated it and went back to the mouse. But it probably takes practice. |

I have 2 wacom tablets one 4x6 and 6x8. lol its exactly the same. 6x8 is not all that much bigger than 4x6. You can use any size tablet you just have to get use to the size. |
