Oh yes, forgot to mention... sorry to be such a scrooge, but unless stated otherwise all of my skins are intended solely for Tides of Blood. I do have a few non-ToB skins up for download in various places, but one is incomplete and the other two aren't very popular. =) Sorry again. |

truely an amazing skin, especially with the chest's wrapping on the model... I am not really amazed with the cape, try making it look more cape-ish by working with "Y" patterns, and don't burn it as much. It'd look okay if you also made the black-to-purple transition look more clear, or else it looks pasted onto the cloak :P The hair also bugs me, it looks like a recolored normal hair close up.. I think the bloodmage looks good with "photorealistic" hair like some games skin, its very easy with the right brushes, too :) ) 8/10, very good (esp. face) but theres little spots that could use tweaking (I missed most of em) PS: I love your color schemes! Is there any pattern to picking them, or do you do whatever comes to mind? I've tried many times to imitate the same schemes, but I tend to make the colors too "deep" and sharp, whereas yours seem to all have a bit of grey in them and flow well :P What prog(s) and brushes do you use? (I'm tired of the ones I use :P) And, do you use multiple colors blended in your coloring? Flat shades bother me, but I am clueless on how to blend it so well! |

egg, that post would suit a PM to her more than a post here :-P just noticed, the highlights on the forehead thing, and the chest's "purple" would look better with more... highlight :-P (headthing referring to the icon :) ) |

Hehe, thanks for the comments/crits. For reference, I never, ever use burn or dodge - I don't like them. As for what proggy/brushes, I just use the regular paintbrush in Photoshop 7 for everything now (I used to use smudgy, but not anymore). Usually around 15 - 20% opacity for blending, and 50 - 80% for blocking in colour. I just like lower saturation colours, I guess. ^^ It's not for everyone (certainly not very common in Blizzard's work), but it works well enough for me. I decide my colour scheme while working on the skin, and sometimes it changes several times before I'm done. Yes, sometimes I will use multiple colours for one "shade" in my skins, but not all of the time. Multiple colours is tricky to do tastefully, and really works best in 2D art, rather than low-poly 3D texturing. Here are a couple of new pics. ![]() ![]() Kurama, I wasn't 100% fond of the cloak, but the wrapping isn't very cute, and my fiance said it's his favorite part of the skin so I left it as it was. What do you mean by 'Y' shape? About the hair, it still has some of the original shadow shapes in it, this is true. I added more highlights and darker strands, and at one point I had it all prettied up with metal doodads and whatnot, as well. I removed those, though, because the wrapping was being a witch about it, and I decided with the complexity of the rest of the armour, his hair should be pretty simple. I don't know how nice "photorealistic" hair would look on a 256x256 - do you have any links to examples? Not highlighting the purple on his abdomen - it used to have much more detail, including highlights, but that made him look fat... something I've tried desperately to avoid. (Admit it, the original BLM is one chunky mofo.) Thanks again for the comments. ^^ |

meh I have to agree with you :-P by Y, thats sort of how I blend my folds... I just remembered the aweful cloak UV... I'll try to make a photorealistic hairstyle on him, but on second thought, the strands would look far too thin to go good, and would most likely not even show on a 256, and being put on a blizzard-made-model, it most likely will go in random directions (try doing it on arthas, and you get a big "X" of hair at the center no matter what...) The more I look at it, the more I notice that what I pointed out adds to the flow a lot... Hehe yes the BM is one chunky mofo o.O;; edit- WOW! I tried out your skinning method, and it works a LOT better! I can pull off high res quality with it, it blends in a LOT better then DnB o.O;; I better take a week and get used to it... Thanks :-D |

No problem - I'm glad you like it! =D |

well, heres the "realistic" hair I was talking about... Whipped up in 2 mins and rushed, but w/e :D Meh, it looks better on an ultra-high-res skin :P I like how it turned out on the model, though.. I thought "Might as well" while practicing the face without DnB (SUCESS!!! I can finally draw faces that arent 100% retarded!) Looking closely, I LOVE what you did with the headpiece!! :D |

I have always loved your work Jacinthe, and this is trully another Wc3 Masterpeice Skin. No doubt this is one of the greated blood mage skins i have ever seen but great artwork put into it. I commend you greatly on it :D . |
