Ya, I'll probably end up writing out each case for every spell... :S If you're feeling fiesty, you can edit the spelldatanames.txt by hand, and change the 'Data21' or whatever it is to whatever you want it to be... -Fredric |

Guest | I know i'm not the only person to ask these, but BAM! i can't find the answer anywhere, so... 1. which .slk file should i edit? 2. do i need to do anything with it once i edit it? 3. will this work on b.net? |

Guest | 1) AbilityData.slk is the only .slk file that needs to be edited. You should Export/Extract it from War3Patch.mpq into your Warcraft III Folder, run Spell Edit and change spells around, and then save the New AbilityData.slk back in the War3Patch.mpq 2) After editing AbilityData.slk, you should import it back into War3Patch.mpq. However, MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP THE ORIGINAL .MPQ IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG! 3) To get this to work on battle.net, you need to "attach" your Altered AbilityData.slk to the map that it applies to. See the ReadMe in your MPQ program for info on how to do this. I would also adivse you to export these files and look at them: HumanAbilityFunc.txt HumanAbilityStrings.txt NightElfAbilityFunc.txt ...and so on. Looking at these might make spell editing make a little bit more sense. |

It is a goblin merchant ability, it is basically the Farseer's farsight spell, except that it costs money and I believe it is less effective. |

Great job, but i noticed something which bugs me really bad. In all the spells that have a duration, like cold arrows, theres no duration for the second lvl of the spell, only hero duration. Plz fix this, its annoying me that i cant mess with it and now i cant do what i wanted to do. And to whoever it was talking about the goblin ability, make a new one if you dont want to edit the farseers ability. Since uberalias is what the .txts use to add the correct icons and models to the spells, you can just change the uberalias and BAM! you got a new spell. But you gotta do that on your own in the .slk. |

I found the problem, and i fixed it. It was a misnamed area in your .txt file. For all you impatient ppl, here it is. Sorry Daishi, i just wanted it to get to them fast before they got unruly, like i almost did. |
