I love Castle Builder. Sadly, I can't do any triggers or anything like that. I only do custom models and give ideas.

Custom models are DEFINETLY a must have for this game. The castles that the players will build should have realistic looking towers, towered seige weaponry, etc.

I'd appreciate your modeling skills, if you'd like a place on the credits :).

No, this is the right forum. This forum is developed for the Gathering of a Team, though the forum you mean is the development of the maps, for some reason they don't add it into one forum (they probably don't trust me enough for multiple forums ;)) but right now, it is the right forum. I can move it if anyone is interested, but I think it is well fit here, and at least it shows that the Team Gathering forum is still alive :P

YourZero (hey, not a too hard name, let's see how long I can remember this) the project idea is a good idea, I give little doubt to that, but the point remains, most - not all - 'good' ideas are grabbed too high from the long list. Even though this could be a larger project, it isn't exactly the smallest either if you catch my drift (that has been a long time ago since I've said that :P)

I have been looking throughout the post (aka. ideas) you gave on your very post and it does sounds good, and I can easily see how it can be made, but the largest point remains, are you able to create it? I've hunderds of people starting a large project and stopping without even finishing the slightest part. I am not saying that it will happen here, no, definitely I am not saying that, but even though it is a possibility. Which I now doubt seeing as the interest and your own investment in it.

But all, in all, for those who don't know Castle Builder, such as I, give them somewhat more information of it. Also, show some... things of what you are able to do by yourself. We don't know what we're dealing with here.

I wish you luck, and I'll probably be checking up to this as long as I visit wc3c, which might not be too long anymore.
Thank you for the time

PS. Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum YourZero, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here on wc3c. If you keep yourself to all the rules you'll probably be enjoying this as much as most of the community.
I am Fladian, moderator of this area, nice to meet you. :)

Nice to meet you too :). The Castle Builder maps, for those of you who don't know, are some of the most complex maps I've seen on BNet (besides the likes of DoB RP and many other Open RPG's). The map has room for people to construct a castle by placing walls, gates, towers, hovels, barracks, guilds, etc. You can ally other players or force the weak into submission through the use of massive armies.

The game I would like to make would run off of that system, but go much more in depth. Here's a PM I sent to FrostFire5765:

Here is my basic idea:

As the lord of your newly founded country, it's your job to maintain your kingdoms standing on the continent. You do this by upgrading your civilization, trading with other nations (the other players) defending from hostiles, and conquering the land. It's based more on diplomacy than combat (which is why I refer to it as an RPG).

-The trading system would not use the default BNet trading system. Instead, you would have to load a boat or caravan with lumber and gold and drop the raw supplies off at your allies base. This adds some strategy and realism to the concept of resource trading. A band of thieves (or even an enemy player) could attempt to plunder the supplies.

-The map is epic, so moving armies across the field would be a major part of the game. during wartime, players are encouraged to have battles in open places, rather than immideately seige eachothers castles.

-I would want the gameplay to use the Castle Builder system (if you've never played it, then check it out, its awesome). You would need to be able to build walls and gates. The current Castle Builder maps have bugs with the gates that cause the game to crash, so theres some work to be done with that. I would also like the tech tree to rely on progressing through ages (like Rise of Rome).

Basically, this game relies on heavy strategy and immense amounts of diplomacy. But the creation of it relies on dedication. If you're still up for it, PM me back and I'll send you the map file.

P.S.: Thanks for even giving my project a chance.

I can make a tech tree and PM it to anyone who wants one, just to get a feel for how teching in the game would work.

So there you have it. The basic idea for this Castle Builder RPG. Alas, I have not been able to contact anyone who's been willing to help. I have MSN, and have added them to my contacts, so when you're on, I'll message you.

could you pm me the thech tree? and also, how about a little more advanced, like you research items and then build them, like civilization, and you put them in the crates, which would be units, and then somehow workers can pick the crates up and put them on the boats/caravans. But if that doesn't work, then you could hire "shiploaders" who are units with a geomerged crate, ane they can pick up items. Also, you have a "head trader" who builds trading outposts, in which you put the items from the "shiploaders" into crates which get stored in the outpost, and then caravans can pick items up from there, or allies can buy stuff from there. Also, make the weather change, and make it have effects, for example, when it rains, trees grow, and when there is no water for a time period, units lose health.

i am a average in map editing. i know trigger , custom spell , too lazy to model tho although i learn it in the past. i can help but i tink i dont get the concept of the map =( sadly .

2nd thing, for a map to be good on bnet , there is a few requirement. first it cannot be too complicated , must not last too long, and if it last too long , there must be save mode. well i arent saying this without prove..

look at dota , its not complicated to know how it works and whats your objective. it doesnt last long unless its a good game that will last over 2hr. usually its about 30mins(if 1 team is too strong) to 1.3hr ..

look at tD , its also no too complicated to know how to play it , tho it take some time to learn how to build in the proper way.

look at those OPen rpg wif save .

not to really make your idea look bad , but those are my idea... thats why i havent start making a map yet =( these 3 point blew off my last few idea ...
