To each person: Xman - I could use some help with advanced triggering!!! I am currently working on a way to have Random quests (each quest is initiated by tlaking to a non-player character, ie stepping into a region in front of them) I'll post up the map (or email it to you) when I get done. It is different from the one already posted. In the mean time, see if you can figure out some way to accomplish random quests. Thanks for the complement on the concept :D Choco - As far as characters, I was thinking we have the start (rogue) which can branch as seen in the attached picture, basically you would have points in each category (maybe strength, agility, and int??) and as they increased, the type of hero you have would automatically change. (there can be more things within that, it is hard to draw exactly what I am thinking) I am pretty sure this is basically what you had in mind as well. As for filling skills, I totally agree. The lower the class, the weaker the skills. The heros will not have levels, per say. The characters will just basically grow, and as they grow they will get more powerful abilities (a warrior who becomes a more powerful warrior gets the same abilities, just stronger) I agree on needing to make the map different, and hopefully this will do just that. Post up the quests, the more ideas we get for them the better (and the sooner, the better. The random quest thing is coming along pretty good) Blankman - I've been thinking about a barabarian class as well, but maybe we could spice it up, like a fallen barbarian, or a barbarian of corrupted soul or something. Either post some of your ideas for quests, etc or email them to me at [email protected]. I have you, sp33d, and frozencrow working on the map (basically, working on three maps, then we'll see what we like/dislike from each as they are being created) Give me your email and I can send you the info on the map. Thats it, here's the pic Choco: |

A random quest system... well I'd guess you'd start with some basic objectives such as "kill this person", "bring me this item", etc. The trigger can randomly determine what "type" of quest to do, and then it will determine the specifics about the quest. i.e. who's being killed, what item is being found, or where this person/thing is. Also it might be better to initiate the quests in another way. It's easy to accidently step in front of an NPC and suddenly you have a quest. You'd be walking through town, you pass a person and suddenly have a mission. I think you could have a trigger that perhaps you push patrol and then target an NPC and it'll show its speech then. Some NPCs will have a quest to give out when talked to. We can have some quests given out at random in this method and the player won't just "come across" a quest, he will have to talk to people to find one. |

Dinadan, That is an excellent idea. In fact, I'm sure we can find the interface picture for some useless thing (like patrol) and change it to "Talk". This way, some NPC can have set quests, and some have random quests. We'll have to look more into that ASAP. Blankman, Those are good ideas. A few would have to be NPC specific and not random, but with Dinadan's idea that shouldnt be a problem. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IDEAS I've been thinking, and here is a possibility: Instead of leveling up, as characters gain exp they spend it on stats, and depending on how high particular stats are, their class will change. Here is a chart of exactly what class needs what for each stat: (All numbers in red are maximums, as in the unit could not have a stat higher than that number to become the given class, all other numbers are minimums.) Rogue: Starts with 15 on all Melee Strength: 20 Agility: 19 Intellegence: 19 Range Agility: 20 Strength: 19 Intellegence: 19 Magic Int: 20 Agility: 19 Strength: 19 Melee Ultra Strength: 40 Agility: 39 Intellegence: 39 Range Ultra Agility: 40 Strength: 39 Intellegence: 39 Magic Ultra Int: 40 Agility: 39 Strength: 39 Range/Melee Strength: 25 Agility: 25 Int: 24 Melee/Magic: Strength: 25 Int: 25 Agility: 24 Range/Magic Agility: 25 Int: 25 Strength: 24 Ultra Range/Melee Strength: 40 Agility: 40 Int: 39 Ultra Melee/Magic: Strength: 40 Int: 40 Agility: 39 Ultra Range/Magic Agility: 40 Int: 40 Strength: 39 Ultimate: Strength: 50 Agility: 50 Int: 50 What this does is creates a web of hero possibilities. Each class would have set abilities, but they would have customizable stats. There is a power progression within this web: 1 Melee, Range, or Magic leads to 2a (Melee/Range,Melee/Magic, or Magic/Range) or 2b(Ultra Melee, Ultra Magic, or Ultra Range) leads to 3 Ultra Melee/Range, Ultra Melee/Magic, or Ultra Range/Magic leads to 4 Ultimate The lower a set of classes number, the less powerful their abilities would be. Let me knwo if this seems like a good idea or not :D CITY NAMES I've heard some folks saying that Rainfall City should be changed to something more like Tsunami City, or Maelstrom City, or Hurricane City, or something. If anyone comes up with something, post it (I really wanna keep the subtitle "The Vanished Moon" tho :ggani: ) |

Guest | Do you want me to create any types of spells right now for the Ultra Classes? or any classes? How can a Melee Person Suddenly become UltraMelee and UltraRanged, shouldn't you be Melee Ranged then UltraMelee UltraRanged? |
| 01-04-2003, 02:09 AM | #23 |
A regular melee cannot jump straight to ultramelee/range. Check it again. :gfu: As for spells, what we need is class ideas (like assassin, etc) for each one of the above, like assassin would be the ultimate class, stuff like that. Once we decide what each will be, we can make all the spells! |

Guest | Hey. I can be a terrainer. And I got a cutscene, where you have to kill the leader of the opposing family, but you are betrayed... |

I came up with some class names. Standard – Rouge Melee – Fighter Ranged – Archer Magic – Magician Uber Fighter – Warrior Uber Ranged – Sharpshooter Uber Mage – Wizard Melee/Range – Lancer Range/Magic – Scout Magic/Melee – Magi Knight Uber Melee/Range – Valkyrie Uber Range/Magic - Spy Uber Magic/Melee – Warlord Uber Melee/Range/Magic – Assassin Does that sound good? |

Dinadan, Those are good starting points for creating skins and abilities. Eventually I think we could make some better names (tho magi-knight and lancer sound good). People can start coming up with ability ideas (myself included) |
