If you are at all interested, and can do (to even the slightest extent) any of the openings, post or pm me and you are in! First, some info on the map: (CHANGES ARE IN COLOR) RAINFALL CITY, THE VANISHED MOON (new name which will be kept unless something better is created) This is only a single map, but it evolves as the game progresses. THE PLOT The plot revolves around two families, who control factions of the city, which are in constant struggle. There is also the Mayor's faction, but its power is little. (btw, this is NOT set in the wc3 world, its in its own, evil rotting world) More later... THE MAP The map is a huge sprawling and dark city. It consists of slimy, putrid slums, and noble clean higher class portions. There is also a marketing faction. Outside of the city are monster and bandit filled forests and sprawling farmlands. There will be periodic rainstorms, and the whole game will take place at night. THE CHARACTERS There are 3 (up to 3) teams which can fight. Each team can have up to 3 players. (might make it 2 teams of 4). - Instead of having set teams, it has been suggested that we allow the players to allie and fight as they desire. This idea is good, but will slightly complicate the random quests. The players control evil totally new skinned mercenaries. Here is one of the innovative parts of the map: As a character kills enemies, the weapon he uses (melee, range, magic) will automatically evolve the class of the hero. I plan on having dark classes like assassin, etc. The characters will all be cold, with little emotion. This map will utilize a 3rd person camera type, pretty far behind the hero, but turning with them. DEVELOPING STORY This map will utilize random quests. These will include assassinations, thefts, game hunting, kidnappings, and possibly more. They will be randomized, but the outcomes affect how the city interacts with a player. Ex: If a player steals from one family, that family may put a bounty on that merc team's heads. As the story plays out, depending on what "missions" are completed, one of the families may take over the Mayor's faction, and almost inevitably the families will break into total "war." (the amount of work you did for each will determine your allegiance) With this premise, I am trying to decide how each team will win. Kill each other, be part of the Family which controls the city, rise to be mob boss of the family? Maybe performing missions raises prestige as well as money? no idea So far that is my starting point. What I would like help with is: TERRAINER: Someone who could make this huge dark city map. I have tried, but been unsuccessful. TRIGGER EDITOR: I can do alot of triggers, but need help on the random mission triggers, and some others. MODELLERS: May not be completely necessary, but could be useful. CONCEPT: Need help coming up with classes, names, extra ideas, more missions, etc. SKINNERS: I plan on doing many of the custom skins (there will be ALOT) but still need lots of help. SPELL EDITORS: If we use custom spells, I'll need help in this department. As of now, I have the following team members: (all members are also concept developers) Blankman - Terrainer sp33d - Terrainer (haven't heard from you in awhile) FrozenCrow- Terrainer Gumby_Pornstar - Leader, skinning, trigger development imbluebadabee - concept help, camera help ChocoRunner1324 - Character development ThunderTrails - Terrainer D4vid7r4n - Custom Spell Editor Xman - Trigger Editor Dinadan87 - Trigger Editor Lucky - Character development, background development, names got_ammo - Trigger editor ====================== The list of stuff to work on: THE MAP (got some folks working on this), gonna be big and badass - So far, I have seen FrozenCrow's work, and it is impressive. sp33d should be getting me some shots or his map soon, and haven't heard from blankman in a while. When I get sp33d and crow's, we can decide where to go from there. CHARACTER CONCEPT/DEVELOPMENT- This is creation of classes, and the background behind each. This also includes the skinning of all the classes (which I plan on doing lots of) Here's what we need, exactly: Starting class: Thinking Rogue Melee Class: ? I have begun work skinning this class. Check it out a few posts down. Supreme Melee Class: ? Ranged Class: ? Supreme Ranged Class: ? Melee/Ranged Class: ? Melee/Magic Class: ? Ranged/Magic Class: ? Melee/Magic/Ranged Class: Maybe Assassin? TRIGGERS/RANDOM QUEST SYSTEM- This is going to be the most difficult part of the whole project. I am currently testing different ways to approach this (check out the map I added, it is a pre-beta concept for random quests, look at it in the WE and play it) - Working on an advanced RandomQuestTest map, with tons of triggers, but it allows for tons of different quests to be performed, should be done in a couple days (maybe more with the new year just around the corner). CINEMATIC CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT- In case there are cinematics, start brainstorming - I have been thinking about cinematics, and maybe we could have the following two: One to start the game in which all the rogues enter the town, and the camera sweeps across the city Two could be an ending cinematic, the movie depending on who wins (or maybe a VOD type ending with points etc.) CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT IN GENERAL- This is the area where we decide on everything else, like what Items can be sold, what quests to have, names for the families, etc. - So far we have come up with a new name (may change still) =================== This is what we need so far. Again, anyone interested just let me know, and jump right in! This map is designed to be a fun alternative to the LONG RPGs you see, and the (boring) typical AOS games all over the place. Guest | I also can do some modding of spells. Making new ones etc. Also along the lines of this the characters.. For the starting class maybe do a peasant or something less.. strong sounding, then branch off into rogue (before assassin) and things like that. Are we gonna be able to buy a house or like pets and shit? or just walk around doing quests? will there be a place to store extra items (pack or something) and will we be able to actually ally ppl or will it be locked? cause maybe you should just make it an ffa at start and your able to pick and choose your allies and align yourself with a house by doing quests in the start for them? Would take a bit to do some of these but ill be willing to help in any way I can. |

Choco, This is exactly the kind of input this map needs to get off the ground. Right now, the game progression is very sketchy, and maybe being able to form custom alliances between players could be very very fun. Think of betraying your "ally" just to gaint he bounty on his head. All the possibilities! As for allegiance to families, that is soley determined by the number of quests you do, and who you do them for. Right now, we need class ideas (I'm thinking rogue to start because it isn't a specialized class, its a broad class that has little to offer) so that I can begin on skins, and we can figure out what skills they will all have, to begin work on those. (which you will be able to do definately) |

Oh, ok :ggani: I'm on US East, but this map will eventually be for d/l on the net, so it will be available to all realm users. Also, here is a pic of the skin I've spent a little time on: The body needs tons of work, need to unify the theme of it (looks really bizarre... :( ) For my third skin, it is coming out well. Post replies! EDIT: Forgot to mention it is not close to done (you can still see blue etc from the original skin) |

Guest | Ok I'm back. Have been thinking about some things.. like character classes. I was thinking that after the starting class (rogue) you should be able to pick from a few different paths maybe stealth warrior magic and archer (more possibly yet to come), having like 4 levels up or so so you can class mix to become more extravegant of a fighter or you could pure bred a warrior, I thought this would help alot but thats alot of choices of classes.. and alot of class names to come up with, i'll help name alot though. As for the leveling up, we have some spell modders/creators (me included) so I very strongly suggest that we always have a filled amount of skills and possibly a new way to do them instead of the ultimate crap and stuff. I was thinking for the skills that the lower level ppl have minor skills.. maybe like 2 skills with 3 levels at level 1 and then some spells that they can get (2 levels each) at level 3 or 4 maybe.. then for the more advanced classes starting out with 2 level 1 req spells with 3 levels each then have a level 3 or 4 level req spell with 3 levels (Journeyman skill) and then a Master's skill (level 8 level req with one level). I strongly think that if this map is going to make it we have to be different.. and the spells and class mixtures are just one way to surely help. This is a *#$( load of work and we will need ppl to pull it off but this all will help.. I also have an idea about the quests.. so if you want just post or maybe pm me, it might be a little different but itll help alot with quests. Oh well peace |
