Guest | While KaTTaNa has been working away on the Jass spells, I've been pumping away on those that can be worked on by the basic spell editing system with slks and text files. So far I've got the following almost finished up: 1. Crusader - Onslaught 2. Lightning Bolt - ? 3. Dragon Mantra - Lich 4. Shadow Hunter - Healing Wards 5. Ranger - Swiftness Aura 6. Arch Druid - Protect 7. Archmage - Meteor Swarm 8. Arch Druid - Force of Nature 9. Archmage - Teleportation 10. Ranger - Rapid Arrow - Spell changes: I think that it would be better if I switched the spirit walker's ultimate (earthquake) with Spirit of Vengence. Not only does it fit his character, but it doesn't make sense for a melee hero's ultimate to be an AoE spell. I don't think earthquake should be taken away from either, though. I think that an upgradable earthquake that's weaker than the ultimate should be given to him instead, and replace Lightning Bolt. I still think that lightning bolt's a good spell, it just might be given to a campaign hero, or perhaps a unit instead. We'll see. Also, I think that too many of the Warlord's abilities are buffs. I'm thinking of replacing Blood Rage with Frenzy (the old ultimate). The new ultimate will be the Tauren Chieftan's Reincarnation. If you don't agree with or like these changes, please let me know. Anyway, we have the Ranger and the new Archmage complete! I am surprised in the amount of progress that we've been able to make in less than a week! Let's keep it going! I will be e-mailing many of you soon, I am sorry that I am so lazy and have not been able to talk to you. I promise to get on the ball as soon as I can, Martin |

Guest | Sorry about saying taurens, KaTTaNa; I'm so used to speaking of them when I think of big units. As a different high level unit that would get spanked, I was thinking of the Frost Wyrm. You're right about the hero thing. Maybe we could adjust it so when it hits a hero it takes off 30%, or make it have a different effect, or not have it hero effect at all. If you have the recharge rate low, and the mana cost about right, it could still be very devastating. Good points, Martin |

Guest | hey... I can do storyline and I think this a cool campaign. Here's a sample of my work. And no one will be able to use it. The Dwarves History Of the Durin Folk The Dwarves come from the magical stones conceived from the Titans who long created the world. Many years lie in them as the main folk of the Dwarves, Durin's Folk come from the mountains. Durin I had became the Dwarf king of the Dwarf Kingdom of Ironforge and became succeded by twelve dwarf kings who participated in the war of the Humans and Orcs. The Dwarf king most famous is the twelfth king, Thorin Rockbeard. Thorin Rockbeard was the king of Ironforge, who and his people in the hills held back the undead scourge at bay, but the Kingdom of Lordaeron and Azeroth were destroyed. But then, King Thorin Rockbeard's son, Brann Stonehammer and a number of his fathers people went away to join in the Alliance, since his many fathers before him. Of the Battle of Burning Flame Ironforge stood prosperous in the age as the two Human kingdoms rotted away from the undead, but it too began to crumple. As soon as the Human Prince, Arthas came and told the dwarvish people that the legendary warrior, Muradin Bronzebeard died in the Northrend, the greater part of the Durin's Folk began to rally under the Alliance. But then the Alliance army, a great number of 16,000 men, elves, and dwarves were on the move to destroy the undead near Bunker Hill. Losing numbers were few from undead attacks that came from the all sides, the Alliance host now began to have daily attacks and pillaging from the undead. Brann Stonehammer led the dwarvish people in the Alliance host of 6,000 into the battle among the hills near Stormwind, one of the Alliance capital kingdoms. Thus the battle began and a account is told from the survivors of the brutal battle. 'The Alliance now crossed the hills and was now arraying the remaining elven and human archers and dwarven riflemen in the hill tops as the the fighting force of footmen, axe warriors, and elven blade warriors were arrayed on the bottom of the hills. The humans were in companies of 100 each and were standing still, silently still as the undead host was being seen. A great stench of death hung in the air and the undead charged, without number. Then Brann Stonehammer, along with the dwarven people yelled in defiance of the Scourge and lifted his great hammer and ran down the hill, with hundreds of his people at his side. Then the first volley of the Alliance archers and riflemen were heard, and the siege machines and ballistas were firing off large volleys of hell onto the undead. But the undead still raged on, finally meeting Brann, who was in a tempest of rage and then the main fighting force of men finally came to help Brann in the battle. But in the battle, there were many sorrows. Brann was killed by arrows and corpses that rose again from the Necromancers. The Alliance forces in the hill tops were firing off all they could, but the undead soon fought their way through the scattered Alliance footmen and now were scaling through the hill tops. The Alliance, now broken with defeat retreated through the battle, but was cut off and were destroyed utterly. The Undead now had control of Azeroth and the Alliance were in crumbles, due to the loss. The King Thorin was slain, while moving with his men to combat a Undead band, who sent large Doom Guards against Thorin. But Thorin had two sons, Brann who died in the Battle of Burning Flame, and Thorin Stonehelm the Third. Thorin III now leads his people to dwell again in Ironforge, vowing to avenge his brother and father. |

Guest | Spore cloud is an area of effect spell, except it isn't a channeling spell, you simply drop it and leave. It is supposed to be a tactical espionage like spell. I don't know if it's even possible to show the graphics to one player and not another. Hmm... this one truly is the most difficult. Perhaps it doesn't have to be seen by the player and his allies? Perhaps a song or sound effect could be played during its duration just to them? Or we could just completely scrap the spell and come with something else. And yes, it's a poisoning spell that drains like d&d, just at a lower percentage and not as long. What do you think? Do any of these ideas make sense, or are possible? |

Guest | For the majority of the next week, I will be trying to produce a production plan that will lay out the different phases of this project. It will be all encompassing, laying out plot, storyline, scenario division, sound lines, units, and so forth (the whole cabutle). I think that it is important that I write this so that all of you can reference it to see where the project is going, what needs to be done (as I keep revising the progress section), and critique and develop new ideas. It will also be helpful (I hope) to those who obtain managerial roles, so that you can help run this project without requiring to consult me all of the time. I feel that this project will be more effective of some authority is delegated to others. This plan will also bring to the attention of our project members what the priorities are, and if they have free time, they can work ahead and still contribute to the project. To those of you who would like some sort of managerial role under a category, please PM or e-mail me (at [email protected]) so that we can discuss it and perhaps set up an effective committee. I hope that I can finish this plan by the middle, if not the end of this next week. I do have my Finals, and I really shouldn't compromise those, but I don't think they will interfer. Anyway, I would appreciate if you guys would send me your e-mail addresses so I can send the document to you all. It will be way to long to stick on a post; I'm thinking that this thing will be 50 pages+. I'm sure that it will have plenty of errors and things that you will disagree with. However, that's fine - we are in the planning and basic building phase of this project, so it's better to sort that out now rather than later. We can all find ways to appease everyone's interests. I hope that this plan will help all of you out, as I know it will help my mindset and focus. Thanks, Martin |

Hey, just to say, I had this exact same idea ( well different orc campaign, mine was more pre war1ish) but I think this is a great idea... i've read ALL the warcraft books and alot of other texts on warcraft, and am also a beta tester for TFT as well as a decent mapper and coder (better at trigger work than JASS tho) and have no modeling skills whatsoever :( oh well. I wanted to help with story etc mostly tho, I wrote up the entire NE cmpaign, maybe we can compare, or I can do a share of the work on NE campaign. also, I have a VERY VERY EARLY version of my NE Campaign introduction map featureing a really cool flyby of the moonwell (which for no REAL reason I decided to put an island on, I'll rework alot of it in a later version.) Anyways, If you want to see it, email me at [email protected] and that stuff. I don't have a whole lot of time till june, mostly due to finals and a huge (24 page minimum) Research Paper for my English Prof. But I'll put in some serious overtime then, and I'm always up for giving, receiving feedback. One comment. My Scripting, I have a talent for taking really complex trigger work on and doing it. (Think almost but not quite DM MOD) |

idea on spore. have it summon a unit that is perma invis like the shade. kinda looks like a spore cloud tho, has the slow poison or p sting ability and does no base dmg, but does area of effect. that should work... |

It would also be selectable. Slow Poison has no effect with splash attacks. The unit would have to be a melee unit or it would be able to hit units outside the cloud (because of AoE). Please see the points above as positive/constructive critique. The tough part it in this would be how to store the Clouds in variables and their owners too. I do have an idea on how to do it though, which simply will require two arrays (one for the Points and one for the Players). Anyways, good to see that some people have some interest in this. :ggani: :ggani: |

okay, just let me give it a shot, no jass included, It won't be dispellable. i'll see if I can have it by Saturday Afternoon, for now I'll use a modified poison cloud model, think kinda like a sentry ward tho. |

Guest | the spore cloud explodes and realeases a green gas (abomination upgrade disease) and it spreads for 1 minute infected units nearby doing 2/4/8 damage a second:ggani: level 1. lastes 55 seconds 2 damage spreads slowly evel 2. lastes 1 minute and 20 seconds 4 damage summons small rats out of dead corpses the rats last 50 seconds level 3. lastes 2 minutes and 30 seconds 8 damage plus corpse explosion corpse explosion lastes 20 what do u guys think :ggani: |
| 04-11-2003, 09:33 PM | #43 |
thezergling: Is that pure idea thought or can you actually make it do that? I don't think it should explode corpses unless it was the ultimate of some bad-*** campaign hero unavailable in normal games. The reason why is that another hero (Kel'Thuzad I think) has Corpse Explosion as a spell and it would kinda stink if another hero's spell exploded corpses too, and some more ;) shadowlord: Good! :D Though it requires jass you could make the cloud unselectable, that would be great. Please take notes of my other comments as well (in my previous post) and good luck of course :o) It's nice to have more people working on this project. |

Guest | KaTTaNa has a lot of good points that I didn't think of, I'm sure glad his keeping me straight. There is a problem with it being a summoned unit because of the True Sight ability, and one could attack move his forces and run into. I'm pretty sure this is going to have to be scripted, Martin |
