Ok first off, isn't everyone being a little melodramatic about the whole "wc3campaigns dying" thing? The main reason that it's such as issue is because people keep posting the same silly things. I'm not saying to ignore it, I'm not say it isn't happening. But c'mon, all these posts from people leaving are a bit much IMO. Half of them that say they leave are still around and it all seems like a bit of attention-seeking to me. If they are leaving permanently I can put up with it, but the hype of it all has only served to fuel the miasmic disconsolation of the community.

Posted similar sentiments in the goodbye thread. I agree 100%
Out with the old, in with the new. This game is gonna be around for a long time, just like SC. I think theres easily another good year of modding to be done before the community dithers, maybe even more. This is THE BEST site as far Im concerned, at least in it's diversity and ammount of knowledge/people. Just need to wash out all the dead campaigns and l33t wannabe's. As a newcomer it's been a mixed bag, I was greeted by some (not all of course) of the "old great" members with flames and ego rampages.

I can totally see how 'noob' questions can get annoying, hell, I dont think I've gotten a single thank you for answering questions, but if it's really so annoying, dont ****ing reply, you dont HAVE to show your ***, you CHOOSE to.

I am sticking it out in hopes that some of these people just move on. Otherwise, this site has brought a whole new light and enjoyment to W3 and far outshines the competition.

I think what alot of the veterans are complaining about is the boredom and repetitiveness of some of the stuff coming out now. I think what's really damning War3 is the total lack of talent of 90% of all mappers. With War3 you can do damn near ANYTHING, but all of the ambitious projects go nowhere or take eons to get done. Many veterans are leaving because they've seen it all already, and things HAVE been getting worse and less awesome for awhile now.

If TFT wasn't coming, I may actually be joining those who are leaving. It's nothing against the site really, it's more just the annoyance of seeing dull and uninteresting stuff everywhere and having everything that sounds awesome seem to never come out.

Anyway, back on topic, I think Wc3c is a good site as is, but could use some new features. For one, we REALLY need more mods. I personally don't give a crap HOW many we have, if people are always complaining about SPAM and FLAMES we need MORE MODS to remove them all. I'm a mod of the Cinematic Support forum, and I've monitered it nicely removing ALL unneeded posts, even things as minor as double posting lol. Obviously I could never moniter more threads with the same effort so I'm not asking for a promotion or anything, but we NEED NEW DEDICATED MODS IN ALMOST EVERY FORUM! If any forum gets too many complaints about Spam and Flames, hire a new mod. You can always demote worthless mods you know.

As for actual features: We do NOT need a flash intro. Those are mostly annoying, and this site has limited Bandwidth already lol. The downloads section needs to be fixed, and I personally would like the attachment size limit raised up to its original 1 MB.

Something we need is support for QUICK projects. Some of these take far too long to get done. We need ones that have quality work but don't have brand new models and spells and custom interfaces etc etc. If this place would release mroe mods, even if they were smal potatoes, it would increase interest in the site.

You just have to check the map development forum to see how many small mods and maps launches every day. But I second that there are many cool-looking projects going to anywhere, so that's why we've started a Project Check. We hope to reactivate all the projects that were almost died and send to trash those that really are not going to anywhere.

More mods are not needed. Different mods are needed. Out of the 50 or so that there are, I've seen under 5 that are active.

As for the community.... to put it simply, the war3 modding community is pathetic. WC3C is by far the biggest site, and it hasn't released any truely incredibly campaigns that everyone who plays them falls in love with them. There is no war3 LotC.

There are many abitious projects, but the FPS mod is the only one that truely innovates. The rest, while impressive, don't push the boundries. Warcraft 3 has out of the box more powerful editing than sc had 2 years after it was released, yet I would say that sc editing is still more flexible. While I admit I haven't played any recent versions of the FPS mod, the ver I played was just a fairly generic war3 map with an extra little gimmick. I have yet to see things that are fairly common in sc mods, such as changed main menus, modded in game interfaces, etc. Hell, TFT changes the gameplay more than most war3 mods currently.

At this point, WC3C has 2 options: continue to cruse along making various mods, most of which will die before they have a chance, and never actually doing research ( ex: There are offset libs for just about every element of sc, and although many are outdated due to patches, they are updated fairly easily. Right now, no one besides the fps project has bothered to even look at mem patching for war3). The alternative, of course, if to go out and find things in war3 blizz doesn't know about. Stop being dedicated to random projects, and start just innovating. If you find something useful and you can't use it in what you are working on, crank out a sample, write some notes, and release it. Most likely, someone will find a use for it.

I really don't see WC3C changing significantly, so I expect that they will continue to cruise along making many shitty projects and a few good ones. Eventually, someone will start doing something truely revolutionary, and people will realize that WC3C is essentially a mod hosting service.

Meh, I reread my post ad noticed it was rambling and indirect. It can basically be summerized as: Regardless of what you do, WC3C will die sooner or later, and unless something major is changed, it will be sooner, but no one will notice because the rest of the community is also fairly weak.

Why is every1 saying this site is 'dying'. It's the best wc3 site I have every seen, sure it has its problems but think about it...there are thousands of members and more are coming every day, flamers and spammers are innevitable, just like you can't stop all the crime in the world.

The problem is not the number of people at the site. The problem is that in the year it has been around, WC3C has produced 1 (sorta 2) tool which lets the community do something it could not do before the tool. It has released no earth shattering mods. It has made no campaigns which are even decent, and just look at the name. Out of the current projects, a few look good, but even if every project that looks good now finishes in the next 2 months and are high quality, WC3C will have still released about as many quality products as a fairly small but dedicated site could do. Is that truely healthy?

What if WC3C had some contest, for example, the best storyline contest, where contestent would try to make the best storyline that could be adapted to warcraft (after someone won you could find people interedted in making it, I bet there are some people good at moding yet not very inovative), also try some like a nOOB cinimaic skit contest every two or three months, a strangest cool featurecontest you get the idea (I have an idea, like a Black and White style multiplayer feature, but I need some time to develup it).

the site needs a noobie mode so that you are stuck in the newbie forum until you grow a brain and ffind the hidden button that says "leave noob mode" make it hard to find and imediatly delete posts that tell the newbs where to find it also make people log in to enter the forums so they cant accidently discover there stupidity.

thats how you can cage up the little newbers.

That would be mean, yet funny, however when I was a noobie and had about 10 posts, I published a post called Cinimatic Skipping 101, and you know what, it was moved to Cinimatics For Dumbies The Uber Tutoral, my point is if you did this you might scare off usefull noobs that can realy add to this site...

Yes, so your nick gets banned, and a cookie is set, forcing the person to delete the cookie before signing up for another account. It already does that :P Also, I've seen no signs that any of the WC3C know how to even mod the site code.
