Unless we find the real reason, it might mean that it will only work on mp with a group of people that start playing that map as a first one, the others risk disconnection at map start. I hope it is just a problem that lies inside the SLK file. If not, it would mean warcraft 3 must have a kind of cache when playing a first map. I'll try to investigate a bit deeper. Regards EDIT : Oh oh i just realised that patch 1.06 is out. I have checked, and all i've found are the new armor types. I'll still add that to the enhancer even if it has that problem in case we find a way out of it |

This whole thing where it doesn't work unless it's the first map has got me a little unsettled, I admit. I'm thinking of just shelving the thing until TFT is released. Do you think there will be substantial improvements in the amount of control they give you over the things that you unlocked using UnitMetaData.slk, in The Frozen Throne's WE? *sigh* Just when it seemed like I finally had the control and sophistication that I wanted... |

All that needs changin is the UnitEditordata.txt to tale these in account. I did it for you : http://chrydgod.free.fr/cube/UnitEditorData.txt As for FT WE, yes most of the options i added will be there.And many other enhancements like a file importer and other interesting things. If you have the beta and look in your Units\ or UI\ or Doodads\ folders, there are already a few XXXMetaData.slk files ready for it. unless i find a quick awnser to the problem above , we're stuck :'( Regards |

link fixed at last :) this addon is so perfect that no word can describe it! fyi: some features in your addon are also in UMSWE campaign maker edition, but requires you to import UnitMetaData.slk into your map (just like yours). you have to ask Scio to get it because he doesn't want newbies spamming him "why this unit editor function doesnt work" |

Greets. Which fields do and do not require the UnitMetaData.slk file to actually be added to the map to work? Is it possible that the fields which do not require it to be added might work no matter what, even if the file isn't implanted in the map? This could be a partial workaround to the current problem. |

Why does it always work when there are no local files and the map is the first one played whereas it doesn't when you play another map before. There must be a way round this problem, but i don't know what. The only thing i could think of is that if we could replace WE's string war3mapImported with Units. Then not only WE would save the SLK with the proper path if you import it as a custom music in the sound editor, but i also bet it would load the file at every map load. Unless the string war3mapImported is hardcoded in war3 itself. I am still investigating... Regards |

I tried to force loading with changing local IDs with winMPQ, But i lately realized ot would fail as there is no local ID that has a priority over all others. The local ID used by war3 is the one from your country, and has priority over others. Fun enough i have read somewhere that once BlackDick made a import utility that would help files to be correctly imported. For some unknowned reason someone else wrote it wasn't needed. I start wondering as any trace from that seems to have disappeared from the forums. Too bad. Maybe changing war3mapImported could work (though i doubt it) I'll keep y all updated, and note that if the enhancer works only when the map is the frist one played, thats only a multiplayer problem as the files can be left in warcraft3's subfolders and allow local files enabled and that will always work in single player. The method looks sound. I certainly don't feel like doing all my unit editing from the files, like he suggested. Although I'd do it, for that enhanced flexibility, if the expansion weren't right about to come out. As it is, I'd like to see what it offers first. Some quick questions: -Would this let me edit unit sounds for on battle.net? Seems UMSWE isnt letting me setting sound sets. -How much would this add to the filesize of my map, if anything? -Would it fix the building bounce problem? -I heard you mention some issues with multiplayer games in some other thread, could you elaborate? How about the part where your map wont work, if you play other maps before it, is that just your map or for all maps using this SLK enhancer? And does it add any extra filesize? |
