Our hands have been forced...

Well almost all my posts were in the skins thread, but just because some one is new to warcraft 3 doesn't mean that they cant have a good idea. That could actually be a reason that some campaigns (like mine) never got off the ground. Some of the ideas from new users can be great. I dont think we should have a post count it just makes people want to get theirs higher to make themselves seem more important. I like the crackdown on flaming though, seeing as people who made something that they like such as a technicolor skin of a demon hunter not get driven into the ground and they stop skinning altogether. Flaming has always sucked and the people who flame should be punished SEVERELY. well thats my two cents.

Post count is useless if your a stupid noob its gonna be obvious and if you know what your doing that will be obvious too. get rid of it. if your a newb who just happens to know alot about wc3modding then who needs to know there a noob.

on the other hand this might cause newbs to try to fake knowing what there talking about making alot more annoying know-it-alls like dabest (damn him)

You could also just delete the forums. That would be the fastest and most effective way of stopping spam, although it would take awhile for the flames to go away.

I really don`t care bout removing post count thing from skinning forum. I just think that I could be adviced about the flaming and spam you guys are saying before taking any kind of attitude.

[edit]
I also would like to know where you see so much spam and flaming, becuse I can`t see them in the forum. I think that right now we have less spam and flames than 6-2 months ago. Just take a look at the threads. The only flaming issue we had was about Maverick issue, that could have been avoided with no unban of him that time.

I don`t crae much about this, but this way you speak as if the skinning forum was gone wild, and it DIDN`T. This looks very unfair.

Sort of agree, i weren´t here 6 months ago but anyway...

The only flames i see now that mav is out is the occasional flaming that takes place when someone posts a skin when he obiviously even doesn´t know what skinning is...

I personally dont think that´s even serious, i mean, if u dont even bother checking why the forums are called skinning forums instead of screenshot painting forums...

Well, not that i would care about post count, but it all seems rather pointless, removing post count increase per post in one specific forum that doesn´t even seem any special compared...

I mean, why not just implement a pointless thread & post DELETION
policy, instead of just locking them?
If you believe all the flaming drives itself from the post counts then why not just delete the pointless posts instead of locking them?

I have hardly seen any flames nowadays. Those were back a few months. And heck, I hardly go on this site, and I notice the staff have such quick and decisive action towards flames that happened months ago :gsmile:

So? This change has no effect on the quality of the boards. In fact, it will hopefully raise it.

KDEWolf, CitizenSnips has been catching a lot of the flaming as soon as it is posted...

i think the admins should do the same in the comics/concept are threads, those places are filled with one minute paint drawings and stuff and rather than cleaning it, i think it should be the same as the skin area.

i think the main concern with the skinning forum is the CnP issue...everytime one person puts up a skin that they've made by using the CnP method they get harassed about it until no end...if they are using free textures I think people should just let it be...it's the persons decision and they shouldn't have to be attacked if they want to show their work...also another thing is that this is a warcraft community...usually in a "community" you support each other in the things they are doing...i've mainly seen the most degrading types of comments in the skinning forum..I'm not trying to say that they don't exist anywhere else..but the majority of the rude comments I see are in the skinning forum...

Take it this way:

If someone would go to the mapping forums and start showing how good he is at extracting custom triggers from locked maps, how would it end up like?
I bet the whole dang forum would become a damn boiling flame pot...
And i believe even the moderators would agree with the flamers.

But with CnP, it´s just like that, someone might put his map online so people can download it and have fun with it, but then some *** just comes, cracks the map protection, changes it, and starts calling it his own.

You know, there are free textures out there, but i really dont think they should be more than a reference.

You can respect a mapmaker who uses the idea of an old map, but does it better or equal, but can you respect a mapper who takes a little piece of triggering from this map, another form the other here, and some more from that poor TD wintermaul there.

Could you respect the work of such an mapper?
I say no.
He does nothing himself, everything he has is pieces from maps made by people more skilled than him.

Yes, it can be compared to the waste amounts of damn MAUL TD´s out there, only the original was worh a shit, the rest are just reliving the old, possibly not even giving credit to the original maker.

Now, i actually feel it is an insult to skinning that people and some moderators/admins accept CnP and using free textures for CnP, it is just as "bad" of a thing as if someone would be ripping maps...

I THINK that the forum is skinning forum, not rip-off forum.
