These cinematics are great. I like the part when they wander to the Ancient City. I just love it, i made this for COTN. |

I don't know if anyone has asked this, but dk, are you still going to remake some of your cinematic chapters and then combine all the chapters together that would sum up to about a 200 or 300mb file for people to download. you know, like the final version? |
| 10-15-2003, 09:15 PM | #35 |
oh maybe, everything is possible :) |
| 10-15-2003, 09:39 PM | #36 |
If everything is possible, why are you taking a (much-needed I understand) long break. Considering the time it took for you to just make this part (which didn't include a break did it?) would mean that the next release will probably fall on Saddam's 130th birthday. I encourage pressure DK... positive pressure. :ggani: EDIT: Hmm... well I don't guess there's anything positive about Saddam... Oh well, I guess I'm demanding too much of you. It's just that I lose appreciation for other cinematics after I watch this and I totally refuse to watch or play anything with less quality (I'd never find this kind of quality on Battle.net from someone else in a million years). Well enjoy your break. You earned it 8)) |

Awesome job dk The special effects were amazing (especially the arrows) The cameras were good except where there was clipping The skins were cool I thought your terrian was good except there were several parts(like in the tundra) were the tile used for the ground did not look natural. The story was fantastic, a great improvement over all the previous videos in the series. More natural dialog and better characterization. 9.8/10 P.S. i hope your break from movie making isn't to long, you definitely have to wrap up this story. |

Mesa is wanting me two cent's worth posted! So mesa post review! *ahem* right. As we remember (okay fine you don't,) in the Ant review system, points are deducted rather than awarded (so your points don't soar absurbly high in case there is something BETTER). It's one day after I watched... I may watch it again to refresh my memory, but oh well. *ahem* let's begin. This review is using the "Really good Non-commercial" standard which means it's graded strictly but not penalised for small teeny weeny mistakes. Terrain: This looked really good. I can't say anything else cause that would mean I actually NOTICED something out of place or ugly... but I didn't see any. The environment was created well and stuff though... however... I need to know one thing. You spent all that time creating a big big city and it gets shown for... 30 seconds? Anyway... I can't possibly ever mark you down on this one. Minus NOTHING Sound: At some parts, music created the atmosphere (like the tension parts... I hate all those suspenseful music cause suspense make me umm... suspended? but I say it created the atmosphere really well). However, I feel some music was a little... boring? I don't really know but personally I preferred TToN's music to this (come on I have to compare with something!). Minus 2 Camera: The cameras flowed through nicely... and it grasped the essence of everything and whatsnot. You never stayed in one camera for too long, and that's good. The cameras were really appropriate. Fade filters (they were fade filters right?) really helped too. I love the crystal part where the fade filters suddenly change into real crystals and break. I'll say the camera probably couldn't be much better (but I watched it yesterday, so my memory is CLOUDED!!). Minus 0 Battles & Special effects: First one... the troll I believe? Well the battle went rather smoothly, I think mainly cause they were air units and all which made it so everything participated and nothing got clumped together and all (you know what I mean). The battle was also short and sweet... but nothing much special happened... which explains why it is short. I felt it could have been more entertaining... dive bombing? The elves actually dying? Personal opinion. Then the part where A...ummm... the-archer-girl (HELP! I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME!) fires at that gargoyle... It was kinda irritating to see those flashy sparks stay above the gargoyle's rotting corpse (it stays on in the same location, doesn't move with the gart). I can't remember if you did it, but I think we should have FELT the arrow hit the garg and all... dunno... The holographic memory part was well done, and it wasn't a focus on, as it was a background for the heroes to talk about, so no comment.... anyway. Minus 2 Total: 36/40. That's 90%. I didn't grade on the rest cause there wasn't much to grade on (I don't care about art, and I'm not a movie critic or anything, so nothing about the story). Stupid questions just to end off: 1) Why is it both women wear the same blue cloak, and have the same irritating cleavage that seems to turn sharply towards the chest like a warped quarter sphere? 2) Why do both women wear nice revealing clothing of the same colour, shape, and size? Same wardrobe? And what's revealing clothing for... to seduce undead (EEK UNHAPPY THOUGHTS GO AWAY!) 3) Can't you compile the long long credits? Instead of Sound: DK, Cinematic: DK, why not put DK: Sound and cinematic. and Models used: Blahblahblah... Remember, these stupid questions were put here just to be STUPID. |

cant do a massive review, cos i am busy - download time: 5 mins on 10Mbps VDSL - terrain: how many custom models did you make - music: synched well, but try to compress it next time - length: this is just like an actual movie! |

It was Insanaetius (I wonder if someone has ever spelled his name correctly...) who started the 'cinematic revolution'. |

Hello again, anyone remember me? Doubt it but anyway first a big round of applause to daemonkilla for making this spectacular piece of work! Its definantly the best WC cinematic ive seen so far, much better than the prievious cotn episodes. Terraining-Excellent, the tree skins (especially the splitting one) were really great, made everything so much more pretty Music-I didnt get the sound problem and the music was really good, though could have been better. Story/Dialoug-Story was a lot better than the prievious parts from what I can remember. Dialoug was pretty good, but not perfect. Skins/Use of visual effects-So ****ing sweet.0_o The way units/heroes were skinned to the same colour scheme was good along with the other skins. Your use of special effects was stunning and really made the cinematic come alive. The boulder is the only real thing I can take you down on, didnt really look natural. I know hardly anything about cinematics, but camera angles were all good, but room for improvement. Overal-9.6/10 Theres room for improvement (just) but really I dont care, better to have it out than to spend ages upon ages making the uber map (which more often than not never gets done). Its a shame the story wont get finished, but If you wanted to you could either give the story to someone else to do all the cinematics for or just relase a sort of storyboard or whatever outlining how everything shapes out for thoose who want to know how it ends. Sidenote: Hey, DK whats that font you used for the credits? Is it one you made yourself or is it from photoshop or something. Could you give me its name cause its looks rly good :D |
