Do you like the new "Point System"?

Personally I don't think it's great... It's neat you can buy stuff but... I don't think it's great. Most forums where you can buy stuff is actually linked to there "game." But anyhow, I do think it promotes spam (Because I've been tempted a few times :bgrun:) But if you do fine an effective system that includes points, then this idea would be great. :D

Hmm... sig idea I think would be good, but not based on lines but bytes. For example, say 800 bytes (that would be ~100 characters, if I remmebr correctly) would cost maybe 10 points...

I still say the prices are WAAAY to high and they just yell at people: "spam to get stuff" Yes, yes, they say spam won't be a problem, but unless they're coming up with a more effective way of controlling it (like a post must be at least 50 character long) it will still be a problem and will continue to be more and more of one. I would say make avatars cost maybe 25 points, and unlimited avatar changes cost maybe 250... titles cost 50, and unlimited title changes costs 500. But not 700 points for ONE change.

no 290 cuz by the time u have 290 your view points should get you to 200 points

You have to pay to post? What hapens if you run out of points? And since when did I want to do anything but talk on a forum- now i'm going to have to wory- "Oh no, if I post now i wont have enough points left over to get my sig changed!". I don't like it, it's tottaly pointless (no pun intended).

And another thing- you can change other peoples titles? TO ANYTHING? And you sugest that you do it whenthey don't have any money to change it?? Great, theres a nice way to make people leave.

You do not have to pay to post. You people really should read the ORIGINAL news post on this topic(third one on the front page), it explains the system pretty well. You also do not have to post 200 times to change your name, if you are a thread starter you get points for views and replies. The prices will change, I have to be able to watch how fast people gain points to be able to adjust the prices dont you think? Its not like iv ever tried this addon before, so bear with me while it gets tweaked.......

So he was misinformed, and my rantings were pointless? (Uh... no pun intended again). Well, this might work out, i guess my biggest complaint was laid to rest.

Now, I really really like it. I do not think you should give ordinary users the ability to rate people's posts that gives a subtraction to points. You should make it where at least five people or so have to vote :D or :nono: for it to change that person's points.

Personly, I hate It

Its going to change our forum into a market place, where people Demand points for help, this is allready starting to happen.

All you guys did is make it so you have to post 1,000's of times to be able to do things that we only needed 1-50 to do before. I say Kill it, and kill it now before it gets out of control.

I have said this a dozen times but will repeat it once more for you Hunter. It does not take 1000 post to get 1000 points and the prices are not SET yet, these are just default prices, i couldn't set the prices properly until I see how fast people are able to gain points. You are able to gain points in 4 different ways:

1) 1 point for each post
2) 1 point for each positive rating of your post, one point lost for a negative
3) You get a set amount of points depending on how many views and replies your threads have(the current tables are on the front page thread that describes this new point system, though these values will change)
4) People who write tutorials, write useful programs and make very useful threads are eligible to get points from any admin who notices their good deed

There is also a 5th method I will be unveiling that rewards people who give good responses to questions (the thread author can will be able to pick who gets the points)

Also the prices are not SET, these are default prices, I have to adjust them after seeing how fast people gain points.

I know that you get points for views and replys, but its way less than posting.

Do you have anything to say about those people who have been demanding points for help with modles/skins ect...?

Personally i think selling skins is dumb. But if no one goes for it they will give up. I highly doubt anyone would want to donate points for skins. I can understand donating some points to someone who helps you, but no NO ONE is forcing you to give anyone any points for anything. The people who are trying to charge are just testing the system, hopefully none of you will actually buy into it...

Wow. I thought I could offer a service to the community, inspire positive posting and give a little bonus to what is available for points. Nobody is forcing nobody here.
