Why do these things always turn into warez discussions?

Remember, talking about that is a bannable offense, so I would quiet down if I were you. I hope I am not offending anyone by saying this, but if you are trying to get 3dsmax just to use these art tools and you do not have any previous modeling experience, don't waste your time. These applications have very steep learning curves, and it usually takes even longer to produce something useful.

If all they did was release what they used, why did it take so long? I'd probably pay 10-15 bucks for a gmax plugin.

I have plenty of damn modeling experience, but I've never been willing to fork over so much cash for 3dsmax. That's why gmax was such a great thing.

Well for Mac people there is always a texture conversion program.

http://www.macstorm.org

Download section.

It was obvious since there is no 3DSMax on Mac that the art tools would not work =p Most of the game industry uses 3DSMax, while the movie industry uses Maya. Oh well. It's great for the community, I'm not bitter or anything, since I can't make 3D for the life of me =p

Now go and make kick *** models =0

Yay! I can't use this, as I have a hard enough time getting enough money to buy myself a computer game lol... but I'm sure a bunch of other people can!
To the person who said 3DMax is so expensive... Lightwave & Miya are used in movies like Lord of the Rings, and by Pixar Animation Studios (Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo and stuff), and those are more around $6,000 to $12,000 :p
And is it just me, or did it seem as if Piata was spamming? 2 big posts right in a row... andother 3 short ones in a row...

Yea, thats what i think. If you can produce something useful in 3ds max i bet you can get a nice job in game industry etc. And then this 3000$ program wont be a problem at all. But I just can't understand, since most of our mapmaking lovers contribute and share for free, how can Blizzard released these aim-to-adv-mapmakers tools that will only work on a professional/commercial program??
