Newbie herassment, and making fun of homosexuals

The only place I think it is bad is battle net. On the forums here it is not so bad, I really dont see it too often, and I try to help out people that dont understand the game as well I as do. BUT weaaddar I think you got to tone it down a little. Do you really think that getting mad at the people that make fun of new people will stop or do you think since they have p*ssed someone off(a moderator at that) that they will keep doing it and even more than before.

Actually I was hoping people would realize the folly in there ways.

I could of came out like a moderator Sticky this, close this thread. Do a search for fag,gay,n00b,newb,newbie or however you guys write those, and then close all threads containing those words. I didn't. I created a small discussion topic, which has gotten a bit more popular then I expected, and seems to be deriving further into not what I wanted to see.

I'm a little curious what you were expecting. With the exception of Kolibri (who was being funny), nobody is likely to defend the use of n00b and fag0t as valuable tools in our gaming lexicon. You're right, they make no sense, and they're needlessly applied to undeserving people.

But do you really expect a mea culpa from some long time n00b-slinger?

You could have just have easily written a strongly worded position against dumping oil in Alaskan wildlife preserves, or criticising throwing unwanted kittens into meat grinders. Everybody agrees these are bad things. Nobody here is likely to read positions against these and remark, "You know, he's right, I've been a fool about kitten grinding all this time." Anybody who would call somebody online a gay n00b isn't about to bother reading a post on here about why it's wrong, and they're CERTAINLY not going to call attention to themselves in such a post.

I appreciate the effort, weaddar; we all agree, as evidenced by the "me too!" posts that followed yours, that yes, calling somebody a gay n00b is bad. If you had a specific audience in mind, I'm doubtful this is the right media to teach them the error of their ways. Probably only maturity will cure them.

That is sooo true! I have a friend at school who has been tainted by playing Bnet and nw he thinks he's cool cos he calls people "Fags" and if something wrong happens he says "Oh , FFS!"

And I think that people calling each other n00bs is so stupid and ridiculous, and also I never call epopel gay because i have a friend who's gay and isn't open about it because he's afraid of what other people will say.

Like I said before, there is no reason to use those words. I actually don't understand how they thought those words/names as insults. But then again... I don't usualy have fights with people.

Yeah I know what you are talking about Splodgez0rz. I have a friend like that too. I never say 'gay' either... or at least not as insult on the forum.

And yesterday I was doing one of my human strats for 4v4 to get 18 footmen by the usual rush time and have no hero. A few of the other people on my team were like "omg n00b wtf are you doing" and "get a hero you n00b". Once we crushed the first 2 enemy bases and I lost 1 footman total... they said things like "thats a nice strat yoda".

Well Yoda, its warcraftiii.net why are you even visiting that site, expecting decent information.

Somewhere in Warcraft III beta they became the worst site in exsistance, posting a fake patch list and fake tools which did nothing. Then talking themselves up. Recently they just pulled a fake patch list thing. They also had the most idiotic people on thier boards (Thebest).

This is not because we're rival sites. They are just fucking idiots. They are the single largest source of misinformation on map making since the umswe forums.

Hmmm... I never knew that warcraftiii.net was considerd 'that' bad. I knew it had some fake information, but pretty much every site got it. (probably even a few who says that here too... I can't call names but I am pretty sure of it)

Ok, I must say that I have called over 130 people noobs, over 500 things gay. I guess it was just cause every one else was doing it. For example, I found omfg offensive, but because everyone else types it I want to fit in. But I must agree, it is immature. But I am immature. I am 14.

Oh no no no, I NEVER go to the forums for warcraftiii.net. I just upload maps there cause it seems lots of people go there to download maps. I only look at the comments to maps when I am at school. And thats only because this site is blocked at school. www.warcraftiii.net is blocked but they dont seem to be blocking maps.warcraftiii.net.

Noobs aren't always inexperinced, just sometimes they make a mistake.
And what in the world does 1337 mean?
