Ha, I doubt it. The site directors only see good things. Which right now, is their new monitors. Nothing else. And yes, BN, my friend lost all his stuff plus a good 1600 points. I think they need to repay everyone who is complaining about thier points and what not, what they had plus more. The friend I was talking about quit Warcraft because he relied on this site to answer questions and learn new things. War3c needs to take heed to these errors, fix them, and make them better. This is outrageous. I mean, what's the point of screwing over a site, just to lose members, and not even care? This is isane... |

well, about the tinker model...there is one in the downloads section at Darky's site that looks pretty close the the blizzard one... |
| 04-08-2004, 12:25 AM | #33 |
You mean the download section... you see War3c Directors?!? They don't even call it the DOWNLOAD Section!! Cuz it doesn't BELONG THERE!!!!! *deep breath* |
| 04-08-2004, 01:14 PM | #34 |
I really don't like the new download section... Its really pissing me off |
| 04-08-2004, 02:54 PM | #35 |
I think the phrase is, We don't like the Download System, Warcraft 3 Campaigns is pissing us off. We being the whole site. |
| 04-08-2004, 03:15 PM | #36 |
Guys, be glad you have a place you can download stuff! The staff could of just made the downloads a blank white page! |
| 04-08-2004, 03:30 PM | #37 |
I think you guys are getting a little to angered on this matter. Draco has issued a Poll on the Home page where you can speak on what you think of the directors and moderators, as well as say what you think they should do to make the site better. |
| 04-08-2004, 04:03 PM | #38 |
What's the point? They don't listen... I'll go over there sometime, but my words will not be reconizied. |
| 04-08-2004, 04:38 PM | #39 | |
wow, I though this thread was about the tinker model and stuff... well, still got to reply Quote:
well you see linkmaster23, maybe, just maybe, that may be due to the fact that Blizzard makes lots and lots of money by listening to their customers, while the people running this site do it for f#$kin' free! I mean, yeah, why the upgrade, I liked things perfectly as they where, and yeah, the old download system appealed much more to me as well, but wasn't it the case that the old one just couldn't handle the amount of data anymore? And Darky's system is looking better every day, so why not cut these hard working people some slack, since we should be happy that they maintain this place for us in the first place! Oh, and sure, we, the members, make the community through our contributions and all (although, what is it you do linkmaster? I don't recall any spectacular models under your name or stuff), but really... so what? We can still download can't we? And upload? Give things some time.. and who need points anyway.. they were fun for a while, but I really don't miss 'em anymore.. it's not like they could pay me dinner or something. And I really do not consider it a proper expression of contribution anyway.. if you made great models or skins, people will remember you for that anyway. The rep system, (although I think it shouldn't be anonymous - not to initiate discussion on it though!) seems to me a much more modest way of getting productive or helpful members recognized, while keeping spammers from doing what they do (at least for those who try to gain popularity by it) So. Erhm. I just think there has been bitched enough on the whole change thing, too much, since even members like me, initially bitching about it myself, start to get really bored by it. As for the petition (the what? Oh that, right); no effect? Why not? I remember a petition being set up quite a while ago demanding blizzard to provide us (the community) with the proper tools to create our own models.. and correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we now all enjoy the bliss of Arttools? That thing was released due to popular demand, and why wouldn't they do the same with the goblin tinkerwhatshisname? The model is already made, the whole concept is there; it would be minimal effort on blizzards side, thus an inexpensive boost to their popularity, so they'd be stupid to ignore such petition. (they'll just gonna wait a while to see how popular releasing such models etc actually is, saving them the market-research on such stuff). I'm not sure about the ogre though, cause 2 players controlling 1 character? Wouldn't that only appeal to siamese twins? That wouldn't be practical right? (unless I misunderstood) So. The stuff abides. |

Yea, but they could at least listen to us. What's the point of hacing a FREE site, if they don't listen to us to make it better? Quote:
What's the point in maintaining something that doesn't even do what the users want? I mean, you could I suppose, every once and awhile, at least ask for ideas, and really mean it. Not just, hey, Who wants a Goblin Background? ... Yea, like they care what our response to that is. Quote:
This kid... thinks I model... Listen buddy. Just because your madly in love with models, doesn't mean people can't respect me because I don't model. Sorry, trigger man over here. I think I'm well known in the Map Development area. After all, Unlike some people, I don't think one section of Warcraft rules. I think they all are fun and creative in their own way, and your over here yelling at me about some stupid models. I HAD a spell pack submitted, but of course, you don't care Mr. Model-Man. Quote:
There goes the biastness again. Please, what else do I need to do to make me popular? Make you dinner? I hear I make a mean Mac+Cheese. Quote:
Boy, the spammer and useless information. You would be on the top of that catagory, no wonder you don't like this Rep system! Quote:
Well, if I had the attention span of a fish I would too... Quote:
... 8 seconds later... Quote:
I do belive, that Blizzard had already said, that they were relasing Art Tools. Correct ME if I'm wrong, but that petition was on Art Tools for the Model Editor. Which they realased, because they said they would. Quote:
I am really getting the impression you like models... I wonder why... Quote:
You mean... we actually agree on something... imagine that! Sidenote: None of this really is meant to be rude, it's just, well, kinda fun. :P Fun Fact: Fishes have the short term memory of 8 seconds, that's why they never get bored of thier little bowls!! |

Those are a lot of insults and faul language in one message.. you really need to learn some manners dude. [edit] and who are you calling kid, kid? (what's that with 15-year olds and decent communication?) |
| 04-08-2004, 05:15 PM | #42 | |||
Heh, boy, your yelling at me about foul (foul not FAUL) language. Mr. Quote:

Uhm, yea... look who's calling people 15 year olds... You can't even get your facts straight. You hippocrit. (That's someone who does something but yells at others for doing the same thing) If you didn't know. |

Your profile says you're born november 1988. Doesn't that make you a 15-year old? We still live in 2004 don't we? And it's not yet november is it? Just checking. Wouldn't want to get my facts wrong, now would I. And yeah, that was a personal attack for which I felt I had every reason at the moment (even though now I would think "...linkwho?"). You see, I mingled in this conversation to defend this whole site change, since I'm just bored with the bitching about it. (I do like the rep system by the way, fyi) You're the one making everything so personal, getting off by attacking people on a personal base. That I doubted your contribution was just because I think you have quite a big mouth for someone I personally had never heard of. The remark was stated like "what is it you do" giving you all the opportunity to inform me if you feel such thing is necessary, without me at any point being degrading about mapping or spell-editing. So far for the insults. About foul language; saying someone does something for fu#$kin' free is something I consider to be emphasizing (however you write that - we're not all from english countries you know) in ordinary language. using such terms in describing other people, well, then it would be foul language, but I never got that personal before your hothead reply. the "As for the petition (the what? Oh that, right)" that was a joke. if I even have to explain that one, just forget it. And nope, I wasn't yelling. I was urging people to relax on the issue, to just sit back and see how things will go with the upgrade and cut the site management some slack. Satisfied? Yours sincerely, Mr. fish-span-owning-top-of-the-category-of-spammin-and-useless-information-yelling-about-stupid-models-not-caring-about-spellpacks-hippocrit-and-Godknowswhatelse-Model-Man. |

It seems this petition thread has turned into a massive flame war (not a suprise considering almost everything turns into a flame war). Let me offer my 2 cents upon the matter of flaming (or whatever) Quote:
first of all i dont think you should be talking about faul when you have... hacing. I hace, you hace, haceology, he haces... excuse me. Anyway, I disagree with you because they will listen to us if there is enough of us. if 500 people PM draco, xttocs, and stonedstoopid and threaten to leave if they don't do anything about it, they are going to do something about it, or else their traffic will drop dramatically. If they wont listen to one, they will listen to many. Quote:
Disagreed. No one is going to say 50 years from now, "remember that great skin from stuffkikker? That was the greatest skin ive ever seen..." No. People might remember great models, although (at the risk of starting a huge flamewar) people will remember the maps themselves because its that map that puts everything together. And even if that is not true it doesnt give you the right to say that. Quote:
I agree, but you cant argue with the masses. 20% say they like it. 40% sez it needs upgrades, and 40% more say that the old one was MUCH better. You cant argue with statistics (well you can, but you will lose every time) |

You sure? Agh.. but then again, neither would anyone say in 50 years from now "remember that dude at wc3campaigns, who had over 2000 points?!" Eh? Point was, the plus of a point system was (to my opinion) that it would be some kind of acknowledgement of your contribution.. but I think the rep system and having these links to your uploads under your name does a better job at that, but even that is not really relevant.. to me, people who produce good stuff stick to mind anyway (as long as this community is around of course.. god knows what still sticks to mind in 50 years if anything at all.. especially considering I have the attention span of a fish.. forgot how much that was though.. so.. .. you were saying?) |
