the village looks good, and so does that lil bandit place. but id say the big problem with both of them is the tileset, it dosnt match witht he style. I personally hate that tileset for most things.

Id suggest village, with one or two of those Dalaran tiles thrown in

This is some of the best work I've seen. You've inspired me to do some terraining too ^_^.

Thanks, always good to hear more people doing terrain

another ss. i know this is going rather slowing but time appears to be begining to take its toll on me. so far not much new really, just more of the same. ill be makeing improvements soon, adding a little plantlife, perhaps trees, but ill see how they look when i do them

The city terrain doesnt look realistic in my opinion. the hitching post railings are too big to be actually functional and there are too few places to get off the wooden sidewalk. the stacked houses are good and so is the whole atmosphere. try doing something with the tiles too, why would they pave under the wooden walkway? put some dirt under there. just think about what would be functional in a village and try to make it a bit more realistic. good so far, could be better.

ive got a bit of a problem with the tiles unfortunatly, the whole map is tiny, as in the doodads are all smaller than normal, the houses are at about 60% size there, and all the people are about 40% size. so putting dirt down can make the whole area go wrong, but i think i can get the same effect with some doodads, ill have to try it out, ill have a go at lowing those hitching post sizes, but i think that when i do, the wooden horizontal bit will be too thin and show the walkway edges behind, which is what im trying to avoid, and if i make them thinner (length wize then they zig zag up and down to much giving an odd effect (probably more suited to a fort). ill have a go at putting some undergrowth or something under those walkways now. thanks for the crits

[edit] a little work done, im not too happy with the effect, anyone got an sugestions on what plants i should be useing, or any tinting suggestions

Viny and thorny plants could be weeds under the wooden walkways. Stairs on and off of the walkways would be convenient for the people living there.

hhmm i don't care what zurg and them say. This is warcraft. Far from realistic. The terrain is fine. You use smaller houses or variation in building sizes to make unique buildings. Good. Put in some rough dirt patches so it looks a little more worn. My person image of this city is that its supposed to be a little worn. Put a few rough dirt patches and where you do lower that part of the ground. The the cement crumbled. Less plants. Visually i don't understand how plants can grow through total cement like this, but as i said before. this is yours and warcraft is not ment for realism. I like how you put railings on the sidewalk and i plan to steal that (anything with good content has stuff worth stealing :D) idea.

In the bandit part of town on the platform i realized you need a hanging body. Or a noose rope for hanging criminals or unwanted fellers. It would also be nice if there was a corpse pile with some flies behind one of the buildings, hidden from the eyes of the police or civil authority :). For your planting issues i'd suggest dirted or none cement tiled areas for plants and in those areas make very lush. Its nice to see nature in this concrete city. Otherwise all that i feel is missing is the Inhabitants of this city :)

i dont think there is a hanging body model, if there isnt perhaps ill request one in the artists request vault. the vegitation issue is one that bothering me a lot, i cant put dirt under the walkways, because the tilde cover about the size of a whole house (because i so stupidly made the whole thing tiny), and i attempted to put plants underneath to make it look like there was dirt, but then it looks odd because the planst appear to be growing through solid paving. i think ill try something useing the wooden pesents grave, or perhaps putting a dirt texture on the table-no-legs model (portable dirt if you will ^_^ ) im trying to have different feels to the different areas so those suggestions like the pile of corpses is great, a pitty theres no policeman model to make some ammusing sceans with.

heres a little pic of somehting im working on for the WT, no where near finsihed as so far ive only used 2 models, the azshara tree, and the sunken ruins rock doodad, i think ill be useing cattiles viny plants and of course MUSHROOMS to fill out the spaces, as well as adding some small waterfalsl that come down from the cliffs made form oversized rocks (the cliffs will also be extended if i have the patiance, to cover all the areas that arnt paths, giving the effect of a gaint rockery where the paths and streams weave in between cliffs made form boulders, covered in moss and lichen with trees and planst growing out from amoungst the rocks)

infact this is turning out to be good practice for that paradice im supposed to be building
