It's PERFECT. Even if riflemen in that map need to be given a slight projectile arc to let them fire over it, I'm using it. Good find, Stormrage. Also, opening a project forum sounds like a good idea. :D

Zeal, that's okay. What's the other map?

Hmm ... well, do you know if riflemen can shoot "through" them? (That is, melee must destroy the barricades while ranged can shoot over/through the barricades.)

Gee, what a pleasent hello, lol. I'm not sure if I understand what ur saying. So u mean your wondering if the riflemen can fire over the barricades? Ya, im sure they can as long as u put a bit of a projectile arc on the missile. What do u plan to have the barricade be? (doodad, building, destructible, etc)

P.S: I've got a good idea to fit with the mood of the campaign: I think i could get someone to put blademaster swords on units, such as the knights and footmen. It would look more like a katana.

Can I have the riflemen fire "through" the barricades without a projectile arc? I intend for it to be a "constructible". And yes, blademaster swords would be nice for everyone involved; almost everyone could have one clipped at their side. However, a lot of the infantry will be a mix of archers, spearmen and riflemen, with swordsmen used for stealth. Sound reasonable?

(The formula is archers > spearmen, cavalry > archers, spearmen > cavalry, and all three > swordsmen. Riflemen only > other units at ranged, and are roughly equivalent to swordmen in melee. Swordsmen and riflemen are the stealthiest when on the move, to compensate, and swordsmen are the cheapest.)

hmmm... THROUGH the barricades? Im not sure. Why would you want to do that? I dont know mabye if it was a high ranged projectile with piercing it MIGHT but i doubt it. If you commanded one to attack a uinit on the other side of the barricade he would probobly justgo round the other side.

My answer: historical accuracy ;) The barricades did have gunports; the firing sequence at Nagashino was "first volley at 50 meters, second volley at 25 meters, third volley at point blank range, using spearmen to protect the musketeers for this last volley." Thus the Takeda cavalry was for the most part unable to break through, and massacred either on the Rengokugawa (shallows that slow down ground units) or at the barricades (unable to attack riflemen without destroying barricades first).

P.S. Having a projectile arc just for that map though might be okay.

I see. Well you might be able to put somesort of space in the barricades. No that might not work.

What about soundtracks? I'm sure theres a bunch of historic japanese music up for dl somewhere. (Imagining: TechnoGeisha.com, lol)

Also, will there be voicing, i mean for the cinematics and stuff?

EDIT: oo new idea. Ya know how in blizzards campaign the loading screens have the race coat of arms and a map showing where the map takes place? We could do that. We could replace the coat of arms with something and have a map of japan and a path showing where the next map'll take place.

Spacing sounds fine; the musketeers and barricades will be pathed accordingly. I may include voicing later, but soundtrack can wait; I want the core of the game (the map) going first.

As for the map, that's a MDX, but sounds good. :)

Dont mean to go off topic, but hows this sound?

Massive open rpg with four realms, hundreds of creatures and NPC's, and massive bosses. Allows for deep charecter customization by choosing your gender, race and base class. Classes can evolve over time, giving the player options as to just how thier charecter grows. Areas are full-scale open-ended battlefields abundent with quests and full bestiaries of goblins, dragons, myths, and mercenaries.

i like the idea, one thing dont use the same numbers, the game will crash mass, maybe its a good idea to like in the map with 2000 vs 25000 making it 100 vs 1250, will crash a lot less
