Lucky, that is exactly what we need right now. We are specifically working on all the classes right now (some need better names, along the lines of what they are right now) For each class, we need a concept and some names (I'm working on some of that along with possible abilities for these classes) I have also begun to think of what kind of stores could be in this city: Stat shops where you upgrade your hero via additional strength, agility, or intelligence. Item/trinket stores where you buy jewelry or whatever. Alchemists where you buy potions of all sorts, and can mix them (put in two healing pots, get one really big healing pot) Black market dealers that sell drugs (these will have bonuses like increased speed-movement and attack- but will also create illusions, distort movement, etc) They also sell poisons and powerful items. Weapon shops, armor shops, and inns. Inns would be full heal places, pay to get fully healed or don't use it at all. Lastly, there could be mason/builder shops where you pay workers to build towers and repair buildings (useful during AOS portions of the map) Any thing there that looks goofy, unrealistic (in terms on being able to do it) or not ellaborate enough? EDIT: If anyone has a site with forum capability that could host a project forum for us, that would be AWESOME. One thread just isn't enough, we need a character development thread, a random quest thread, a map thread, and a miscellaneous thread. |

Guest | alright, i have a couple questions. 1) whats the storyline, what age is it, what type of country is this set in(the setting basically). 2) i dont think that having ultra classess is a good idea. how about taking the word ultra out of the actual game, maybe use it while making the map 3) are there gonna be different races? or just one, human. if there will be different races they could each start out with the same stats(for the same race), and you will be given a choice of excelling in ranged attacks(agility), brute force(strength), or black magic(intellgence). whichever one you choose you will be given a tome of +1 or +2, and you use it. also, if there would be lots of different races, they would each have different stats, and each one would excell in one thing. you could have an option of having a mix of classess, but training in 1-2 fields would make you a LOT more powerful than say 3-4 classes. if you choose 3-4 you would be able to cast a wide variety of spells and have a wide variety of different abilities, but each would be weak in comparison to the others. what ill do now is get a ton of names, and for each write a brief but detailed account of what it is for. it will be up to you to decide which will go to which type of character:) |

This is actually in a fantasy world. It is not in real life. So it isn't in a country, dummy. Ultra classes are actually just more powerful versions of preceding classes. Please read the whole thread for alot more information about the setting and characters. Alot of your ideas have already been adressed in this thread. As for making up classes and info, choose one and knock yourself out :ggani: |

Lucky, The country side is like nasty purtid forests, dirty rivers, etc. I actually do have school, lacrosse, and some working out... but its christmas vacation, so I've been free for a few weeks. Nice list, we will definately use some of those names. And there are only humans. And creeps (like trolls, ogres, etc.) |

Lucky, A few things: read through the thread to get a bead on how the character classes and development is gonna happen (there are 13 possible character classes, not too shabby I think) Post your e-mail and I can send you some background info on the city so you can start working on names, more background, etc. |

Guest | Wow.. about the random quest.. I've done something similar before, so I'll try and help. All you do is a random number (say 1-40) and remove the repeated numbers. Ta da! Xman |

Xman, My Random Quest Generator is requiring tons of triggers, so anything simpler would be useful. This random number idea, exactly what are we talking about? I once had it set a variable to a random number, and depending on what number turned up a certain quest would take place. The problem is it would not reset the random number, it would always choose the same one (the first time would be random, but from then on it would be the same) If you could make a mini-demo map or some such that I could check out I would be ultra-appreciative. |

Guest | hi! if you need help on terrain, storyline and cinematics i can help... i can't really do good triggering. i'm trigger n00b :abomHUH?: but i have a few suggestions. 1)Why not trigger it so that it's nighttime all the time? just make a trigger that activates upon map initialization, sets the time to night and turns the day/night cycle off? it's pretty simple, i've done it myself. 2)Why not use, say, Felwood as the tileset? i think it would suit the theme you've established so far.... and you can use the tall blue buildings from Lordaeron Summer. Good idea? emote_confused 3)A tavern where you could hire mercs and stuff would be cool. are these ideas good? EDIT: I can do triggers well, but not as well as lots of others on the forums. But i do know a lot of useful stuff. |

Guest | i was fooling around with the map editor and i decided to see if i could do anything for the random quest. well i got an idea... what if you make a trigger which every 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15, 20, 25, 30...etc etc... creates a quest(youd have like 100 or however many quests you want total), and then cancels them when the 5 seconds are up. what you can do is when <player1> types chat message containging <quest> as an <exact match>, activate <last created quest>...i havent tried it yet, and its just hypothetical, as im not THAT GOOD with triggers...just giving you a different perspective, hope it helps |
