i ran into a problem on my map enhanced by WEU, all of the City Building models as well as an assortment of other unit, doodad, effect models are now just green and black checkered squares... very nice tool though :)

I'm uncertain what I am doing incorrectly here.

Using WEU with TFT and without the Patch (Unlimted Editor limits) Making the map larger than Epic (WE maximum size) I get an error message stating my map is too many cells.

That figures - expected.

However when I use the patch I resize my map, click ok and WEU closes - no error message nothing. Reopening the map it is still the same sized map as before my attempt to make a larger than epic map.

What am I doing wrong?

BTW I dowloaded the most recent version of WEU yesterday (23 June 2006).

toxic waste
I've been using WEU for about a year now and I have never had so much trouble until I installed WEU 1.2. In previous versions the editor would never crash, corrupt or maime maps, but now it does. Whenever I use the Enhancer and edit my map, something horrible happens to it. For one thing it cannot load triggers, and if it tries, the map becomes un-openable. This bug killed two of my maps.
It also has trouble initiating Advanced Triggers. It seems to have a 50% chance of killing the map if I turn on enable advanced triggers in the Enhancer. Recently WE Unlimited forgot that it even had advanced triggers and i couldn't access them in the GUI. Reinstalling WEU gave me access to the triggers again.
Another time after about 45 minutes of working on a map I saved with no problem. Upon reopening WEU crashes at "generating models" or something like that. So now I'm out countless hours of work because the editor freaked out. I have been unable to retain more than a day's work on any project before it is mauled. I have no idea what the problem is; I want to believe it just hates me, but I know that cant be true. Do you have any suggestions for ways to rescue my maps?

Oh, look. That happened to me too. But in my case, I was trying to save while in the map and it would save because of trig errors.

The Advanced Triggers for WEU seem to bug maps up. Therefore, they can't be open again or can't be saved. Why does this happen?

I can only recommend not to use WEU triggers. They're horribly outdated, many may contain leaks and I don't have the time to update them.

Also I'm not planning to update and support WEU in the future. The only useful features for me are additional tiles and some other enhancements of the editor. If Zox is going to finish his WE project there won't be any need for WEU anyway.

I personally use WEU for the extra tiles, and the awesome object editor sorting. Is there any way to retain those features for the regular world edit, assuming you aren't going to update WEU? (we better start moving to regular world edit so we don't get screwed later on)

Yes, extra tiles fully work with the ordinary editor. After adding the tiles with the enhancer you can edit the map with the ordinary editor, no problem.

For the object editor sorting you'd still have to run the WEU instead of the ordinary editor, but it doesn't cause problems if you later on switch to the normal WE. In the editor settings of the enhancer you can also deactivate "Show advanced triggers" so they won't show up in WEU any more, and you can't accidently use them.

I know it wouldn't cause problems to use WEU for the features I said, but what if later on I wanted to use the object editor feature, along with the newer world editor features made by blizzard in possible later patches =/

There seems to be lots of info in the WEU folder on program files. Is there any way to copy the folders that control the object editor sorting, into regular warcraft 3, overwriting the current settings?

If not, thanks for the help any way, I'll live with regular WE

Yes there is a way.
For the sorting you only have to extract UI\WorldEditStrings.txt from WE Unlimited.exe into a UI\ folder in your war3 dir.

if you don't mind me asking, how do you extract something from an exe?

Use the mpq tool of your choice, for example WinMPQ.
WE Unlimited.exe has an embedded mpq archive.

I added some tiles that are cliffs, now cannot replace them with normal tiles, except those that are cliffs.

In the editor settings you can disable the Security Checks, so you'll be able to replace those tiles.
