Not sure about that one. Someone at War3pub.net got the same error ( http://www.war3pub.net/forums/viewto...=14920&start=0 ). Another problem I've had is at first when I did that thread, I got the abilities to work perfectly... Later on, I tried working on someone's map and couldn't get anything to work at all -- even though the files were imported and modified correctly. It annoys me... The least Blizzard could have done was made spells default to slot 1, at least then there'd be a little more flexability. |

Guest | Don't worry, I got that problem fixed ages ago. |

How do you change the names and tooltips of skills? I saw this done in Guardian Heroes RPG or whatever it was and I would like to know how to do it. I don't really know about advanced map editing stuff like this but I know basics of WE and if someone would tell me what I need to do I think I could figure it out. I also have another question which isn't relative to this hero ability things, but anyway here it is. How can I take one hero's stats (strength, agility, intelligence) and transfer the numbers over to another hero, (giving them identical stats). I know how to make it change a hero's stats to a certain number or variable but I can't make it use another hero's stats or make a hero's stats into variables :/ anyone wanna help? |

Guest | Can someone post the Excel file as a .txt file? Some of us don't have Microsoft Excel. I'd be very grateful, thanks! |

To edit the tool tips, you have to insert the file (race)abilitystrings.txt to units\(race)abilitystrings.txt |

Weaaddar, or anyone who may know how to help me. I've imported a file into my map (To change the position of some unit/hero abilities). I know it's there 'cause I've noticed some of my changes when I ran a test. However, when I click on the 'Hero Abilities' button (Of the Hero who's abilities I've tampered with) Warcraft III crashes and gives me an error claiming that some memory can't be read. Do you know how to fix this or have any ideas. This is my first time playing around with this kinda stuff so my debugging skills aren't too great yet. Thanks in advance. ---Edit--- Never mind. That problem has now fixed itself. Warcraft has decided that it infact CAN read the memory. I now have, however, a new problem. Before any of my custom unit/hero abilities positions will take effect. I have to restart the map. It's as though the first time the map loads it just ignores the changes. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance. |

That list is semi-helpful, but some of those are not correct! Like, I belive ressurection for the paladin IS slot 3, so it is impossible to have like crit strike and ressurect, it overlaps, and junk... Look at the order the abilities are in the editor, those are the "real slots" arent they? Try it out... Perhaps I have no clue what i am talking about... But i am sure i do... |

No resurrection is slot 4 I assure you. Place resurection as a single spell you must have other over lapping spells. |

Attached to this post are all the TXT files you need to edit abilities and such. The what you want to edit for each ability you need to move is buttonpos variable. It's in the format buttonpos = x,y (or something similar.) Just remember, X and Y both start at 0 and go to 3. Use WinMPQ to insert them into your map files. You'll need to reinsert the ones you edit every time you save your map. Make sure in WinMPQ that you use the units\ prefix. |

Guest | Ok, let me get this straight. All hero spells are slot1,2,3,or 4 If you have a scenario like this: Slot1spell, slot2spell,slot3spell,slot4spell every thing is fine But, Slot1spell,slot3spell, slot3spell, slot4spell. The empty spot is number to and everything to the right of it bumps right? Does that mean I can have: slot1spell,slot1spell,slot1spell,slot4spell, and they work correctly? Basically are they interchangeable for =< value of slot? Can a hero have 4 level 1 spells 3 level 2 spells 2 level 3 spells well I think you get my point. :) |
