Hero spells and thier Position

Hero spells are actually quite a pain in the ass. They always want to defualt to the slot that they are normally. If they can not they will move 1 slot to the right moving that slot 1 slot over until it removes your ultimate. So here I compiled an excel file with the list of all hero spells.
Here is the best tip: Always try to compile a heros spell list in the correct order. So don't give a guy Thorns Aura Evasion and critical strike and wonder why the guy can't cast Avatar.

I noticed that if your character has aura and waits to get that spell after he gets the other three the character still has the auras effect on him.

Auras and passive skills remain even after being pushed off screen. also so do those skills like avatar, and your guy can be ordered in a trigger to cast it. BUT Not manually.

If you find that you have spells conflicting in their button positions, create a new entry in AbilityData.slk based on the old spell and give it a new code in the uberAlias column (keep in mind it still needs to be 4 characters and cannot overlap with other codes).

Then in the Func.txt and Strings.txt files for the race that owns the spell (for example Slow's entries are found in HumanAbilityFunc.txt and HumanAbilityStrings.txt) copy the entries from the original spell and change the section name (in between the brackets) for each to the new uberAlias code.
In the Func file, just pick your new button position.

I know the designers must have been really irritated by the conflicts that creeps must have caused - which explains why there are so many extra versions of spells.

Hmm, could you go through that 1 more time? I need this for my rpg, most of my spells disappear.

this involves opening the mpq and editing certain files using Excel. If you know how to do that, then you shouldnt have a problem following the rest.



if you dont know how to open mpq files, or dont want to mess with it, then just follow weaaddars method by only replacing certain spells in certain slots. If you want more help on this try our irc channel at irc.gamerscafe.net (port 6667) #wc3campaigns and I'm sure someone can help you with this.
