Guest | Minor update on a possibly major subject. WarGiant, admin on GameProc, has offered to work on the models for a few important Marine units, particularly the Powerloader and the Rifleman (which would include the Incinerator, Field Engineer, Field Medic, and the RPG and PIG Infantrymen, due to similarities in the basic Marine models). He's not animating them, which as I've stated it's preferred that AvP:WC had someone in charge of animating groups of models after they've been modeled, which would take a load off modelers and give better consistency to units that share or have similar animations. This puts us at a significantly better standpoint right now. Depending on what he can do and how much time he can spare, we might only need an Additional Modeler (or more, depending on how many are woking at once), a Lead Animator, and Icon/Interface artist (I don't know about KDEWolf's workload, but either he or Kiloz1 could work on these) and probably an effects artists and someone to help implement these various things into the game and work on modifying unit stats and altering parts of the game (not sure on the skills of the current team on this, but it might help to have a person devoted to this position), and we can begin some serrious work on production. Once we fill in these few team position gaps, the production of the Alien vs Predator:Warcraft, and in particular the Colonial Marine alpha can be put together and be ready for some serrious closed alpha testing. And hopefully not too long after that (once all 3 races have been implemented, along with most sounds and tilesets), beta testing signups will likely commence for finalized balance testing. Yeah, we're cooking now. :D |

Very good. Right now i'm free for skinning, because i'm just making the AvP:W site, some icons for SE:HA and waiting for terraining to i can trigger in Realms of Asisila. So modellers make them so i can skin! Because when the trigger time in Realms start i'll have a lot of work to do! |

Guest | I'll be posting this on GameProc as well, but here first, since it's where the skinners are normally hanging out. The first things we can work on, assuming WarGiant is progressing along well, will be related to the two main models I have notes written for, the Poweloader unt's model and the base Rifleman model. Once I write-up the model edits, skin variations and new animations for the four Rifleman variants not already in my notes (so far only the Incinerator is on paper), the units we will have to work on will be: Powerloader Rifleman (Pulse Rifle) Rifleman (Incinerator) Field Engineer Field Medic RPG Infantryman PIG Infantryman They will all need to be animated (but noted, some animations can presumably be copied and editedb from the Rifleman's idle, attack, death, or such animations), but not untill they are imported into the game, so that's not the first thing on the list (though it's a huge priority). I've seen KDEWolf's skinning abilities with mechanical units, so I'm suggesting he take care of the Powerloader skin and probably most the weapons or equipment for the other units (that would include at least the Pulse Rifle, Incinerator, 9mm Pistol, medical pack, welder, motion tracker, Rocket Launcher, and the Phased Infantry Cannon & power pack). Like he suggested, I'd like to look into making AvP:WC higher-quality, like a size of 512x512 if possible. I've seen some of Kiloz1's work with Reptillian skin at least, so I assume he could pull off some good flesh and cloth textures on the Marine models, and probably the armor, too. So I'd like to see if he can be in charge of that. (if possible, I'd like to see some of his texturing work related to those sort of textures before he begins, which wouldn't be for several days anyway). If I were him, I'd skin a WC3 villager as a Marine without a helmet, lamp, or weapons. At the very least it'd be amusing to see. ;) . But considering how much I am impressed with his Project Sauroid skins, I'd like to see if someone could make a basic, standard Predator model with several weapons available, which would give us easily about nine of the Predator units to work on and animate at once. Then I could simply ask Kiloz1 to skin the Neophyte and one of the Hunters, and then if he had time he could either then modify those two skins to get the 2 Guardian and Hunter variations (and add the extra armor to make the Weapons Expert), or let him be free to do other stuff and have KDEWorf or someone else make the skin modifications. Though the Predators wont be essential untill late alpha/early beta stage, I'll gladly divert some progress on an extra Marine or two to get that much done on the Predators and give Kiloz1 a shot at skinning them. Once they're animated and skinned, that leaves us with their abilities to work on, as well as ther process of modifying WC3 to implement all the changes needed in terms of resources, unit caps, and weapon/armor types. As of now, I'd assume Fiery Maelstrom will put some thought into the exact manner of creating these abilities, so he can contact me for further info and discussion on them. We'll need some effects as well, such as fire, plasma shot,s and explosions, additionally. And for now, at least, I think we can find and use 6 existing WC3 buildings as the Marine structures untill someone offers to model and consult with me the specific designs for them. So the most improtant thing here is: Talk to me! Not only do some of those unit design descriptions need an additional note ar change made before hand, but this project needs lots of coordination due to lack of staff. I want GameProc posted on what you're doing and what you can do next, and then I can give you changes of plans or additional details and such. I'll want skinning on that 'Loader model as soon as WarGiant gets it to an accurate, finished state. And that doesn't mean those other modelers and artists out there can just avert their eyes, pretend this project doesn't need their help, and go do non-modding stuff with their weekend! I will still need several more modelers, some artists for icons, interfaces, effects, etc, and some major animators who can work on several units. This project is not going to get finished without additional staff, and if that means hunting those people down and dragging them out of their rooms, I will. ;P |

Guest | Other than for use as visual reference for skinners, artists, and modelers, I have said before I am not very interested in using unoriginal work for AvP:WC, not even for splash screens. It requires too much crediting and permission for use, and would put the project on shaky legal ground if it starts looking like a simple cut and paste job. I've already been aquiring pictures and screenshots for visual references, so other than a few odd shots of Marine equipment, I really don't need additional images. |

I didn't mean for the project, just whoever wants it. |

Guest | I would prefer it if you not use my thread for off-topic material. I find it extremely rude that you would clutter up staff and progress-related posts with mere advertising. |

you just gonna find something mean to say for everything I say wont ya. |

Guest | [sarcasm] Oh, I'm so sorry, I forgot just how rude it is to ask people to not spam in team gathering threads. Carry on. [/sarcasm] |

Guest | Well anyway, since sashok20's mean-spirited, off-topic plugging bumped the important thread-related information off the latest page, I'll give everyone another heads-up on what's new with the TC. WarGiant is finishing up the Powerloader model, which can be seen here. Kiloz1 is also working on a very impressive Marine test skin, using the villager model. I've only seen the upper body of the skin in progress, but it looks very nice, and given a few more reference shots, and some better skinning notes than I already have, and I think he could create an excellent, professional-looking Rifleman, which could easilly be converted into several other Marine skins with some easy changes. So far, progress looks promising. |

I've just done the Predator Overview page in Official Site done. I need all the staff to make the Staff section. And what should i put at contacts section? |

Guest | I can probably put together a staff list (I'll check with a few people and ask what their plan is as far as actually working on the project), though I wouldn't know what to do about contacts. The first page needs some sort of legal disclaimer below the menu bar on the left side; some kind of text that basically states that Aliens, Predator, and the Colonial Marines are property of Twentieth Century Fox, WarCraft is a trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, and so on. Basically it needs to be able to point out that the copyrighted material is being used under Fair Use, while the TC's design itself is property of the AvP:WC staff (yes, you can claim ownership to a game not based on anything you own, trust me). I'd have to look around for some examples that would clearly tie that together for a proper disclaimer. |
