Guest | DarkPrimus and I have had this WarCraft III total conversion in pre-production for some time now, and just within the last week, we have brought it to the public with its refined design and concepts, and now simply need a team of skilled, dilligent people to flesh it out to its fullest. "So, what is it?" Alien vs Predator: Warcraft will use Warcraft III's engine to create a RTS with a gameplay style somewhere between StarCraft and WC3, but with a greater emphasis on tactics, unit control, abilities, and a smaller-scale economy & scope of units. Our work has been going on at GameProc, and the information you will want to check out is in their AvP:WC forum (particularly the Species Overview pages) here: Alien vs Predator: Warcraft Discussion Forum Keep in mind that our game's design is a completed working draft; Other than replacing one Predator unit, moving the Xenomorph ability to build Hive Resin to another unit, and a handful of minor changes relating to names and placement of abilities, this is the design that we will begin working on an alpha from immeidately. The bigger question is simply how capable and willingly you are to start in a dead-run, so to speak. "So, how's production going to start?" I will be serving as the project's Lead Designer and Project Leader, while DarkPrimus will continue to be in charge of the single-player camapign and additional design work. If needed, I can also do additional skinning/texturing work, though as stated on GameProc, I won't be able to carry its full workload. Our first priority, at the very least, is to create an alpha in Warcraft III, importing animated models, skins, modified resources, and whatever abilities/ programming that can be easilly implemented without The Frozen Throne (and later easilly ported over to TFT). This pre-expansion alpha will not only serve to test out and refine our imported work, but give us an opportunity to set down statistics and specific gameplay balances that could not accurately be done in pre-production. As soon as The Frozen Throne goes gold, we will transfer our work to TFT, and begin implementing all intended features for a play-testable beta. Between that point and now, if there is some kind of lull in production (all models have been created, or we are simply waiting to port over to the expansion and utilize its new features, for example), we will most likely switch production over to voice acting, camapign maps, terrain textures, doodads, sound FX, and such, untill the beta can go into full-swing. Some kind of open or partially-closed beta will most likely be needed, but we will not be recruiting any time soon (so don't ask). So for now, our biggest concern is recruiting modelers/animators, as well as graphic artists and people capable of modifying spells and importing new features into WarCraft III. Some info is in the AvP forum on GameProc, but more can be added on request. "Sounds like (insert remark). How do I join or provide material?" We are greatly interested in recruiting people with an interest/familiarity in Aliens and Predator, although skill and competency is of course a higher priority. If you have access to the Colonial Marines Technical Manual, and copies of Alien, Aliens, and the two Predator films, that'll definitely help for visual reference (though I will be some providing screen caps for art/modeling reference along the way, so it again isn't essential). For communication, we will be using combonations of AIM, Email, and the AvP forum on GameProc, so be sure to at least have several of those. I really dislike doing this, but I'm going to have to ask you provide an example of your work before we consider bringing you onto the team. It is cheifly because we are concerned about recruiting people who end up dropping out, becoming bored, or are simply not capable of work of a specific style/quality when needed. So unless you can PM me with a clear reason you can and would devote yourself to this project, please post in this thread (or preferrably on GameProc's AvP staff recruitment thread ) which general field you are interested in helping out with, and include a link or attachment of a relevant example of your work (an easy way to grab our attention would be to do something based on AvP, such as a unit concept art, or a test skin/model). Our standards aren't self-righteously super-high or anything; we mosly want an idea of your skills and best role in the project. While we are mostly looking for people to stay with Alien vs Predator: Warcraft for the long-run, (as this will increase consistency in the project's style and work), if you can easilly pitch-in and provide us with a handfull of consistent, good-quality work (an animated Dropship model, Voice Acting for one role, some help with code/abilities, etc), this will be perfectly fine, too. Just be sure to clarify with us what amount of work you are interested in helping us out with. So check out our forum for what's in store for AvP: WC, and post here if you're interested. |

Guest | Just thought I'd update this with some direct links the my website's Alien vs Predator: Warcraft overview documents. The logo on the top of each page is simply a mock-up; it'll evenutally be replaced with original drawn artwork. Marine Overview Predator Overview Xenomorph Overview So give them a look, check out what's going to be in the game, and post here if you're at all interested in helping out with any of it. |

Guest | Well, DarkPrimus mention to me that your name wasn't familliar, so we're assuming you know him from a different account on another forum. Anywho, I have made new additions and updates to my Species Overview pages on my site and on GameProc. I've added the supply, resoruce, and defense structures (had them designed, but they simply weren't on the document), added the armor listings for units and revamped their armor types for better balance, and changed some general descriptions for readers' convenience. And I got rid of that stupid Predator attack vehicle. :D So if no modellers found AvP:WC interesting enough to notice before now, be sure to check out the updates. ;) |

Guest | Actually, I'm only serving as the main skinner if worse technically comes to worse, as I really have zero drawing talent, and only know how to use photoshop to texturize colors. Plust it's a large work load for a single person. If you can do faces, Xenomorph 'skin', proper proportions, and fairly detailed accessories, I could really use so help. Untill then, still looking for a modeller. Considering the alpha will probably just concern the Colonial Marines, so that the only unit models needed are either weapon/accessory variations of the same Marine, 3 human units, a Powerloader, and 4 vehicles, it sholdn't be a daunting task for most modellers. |

Guest | I thought I should add this, in case anyone wants easy access to it. I made a logo for AvP:WC in Photoshop, using a few pics I had lying around. Of course, redoing it using original artwork is one of the things I'll need an artist for (besides custom interface and buttons, or promotional art), but for now this will have to suffice. |

Guest | We certainly need all kinds of graphics in general, so whatever you can provide would help, though I'd like to see some examples of your art. And the Species Overview pages on my Tripod site could use a better design and a main page, as I simply converted and split my 30-page Word document into 3 html pages with crappy picture links. If you want, you can grab the text off of one of them (the whole thing or unit listing, take your pick), and put together a concept layout page for me to check out. Nothing fancy; I'd be just fine with a main page for updates, a page for each Species and a list of links to each unit/building descritpion. Or just post a link to something you've already designed, that'll work too, but working on a unit overviw page would be killing 2 birds with one stone. ;) |

Guest | Damn, that DH Predator skin is really nicely done. Yet more proof why I shouldn't be incharge of skinning. :( Maybe if I started from a base skin like that, with facial features, armor, skin, musculature, and such sketched in, I could shade and texture it to that point, but I'll definitely need an artist to get the major parts drawn out for me to finish. Speaking of which, PhatTiM89, unless you can do much more than a 5 minute metal skin and an odd-looking sword, I can't say i'm very interested. I spent maybe 90 minutes on my Predator test skin, and I still don't think it's of the quality I need from a Lead Skinner. You'll need to make something of a higher quality than my skin for me to consider you as a skinner. Unless you're much better at doing interface buttons, menu art, or concept sketches. If you are, try sketching something from the Unit Overview pages (a Marine, a button for a Predator ability, etc). I'm looking for an art style similar to WC3, but a little less 'comic book' like. If anything, it should be a combination of StarCraft's style and the Alien & Predator films (AvP2 did this well; dark, eerie, but still sleek and clean.). |
