Scratch that I got the working one from infocepter and ive got the files from 1.00 with the conveter, but it still is gay. Says unknown file format. Ill try putting the new ones in there. Nevermind that doesnt work either. What a queer piece of shit, never works. Always the same gay *** error unknown file bs. does it need the patch version 1.02 or what? Yeah i xp, but it still runs, its just queer, can convert mdls and blp just not mdxs why the hell is that?

It also depends upon what MDX you are trying to convert to mdl.

For example, I figured out a trick to corrupt an mdx so that Yogbul's cannot convert it, and any of the models I've released with maps have been altered in this way.

The fromum wont let me upload it so ur gonna nhave to use the one thats up a bit.

If windows tries to open it as a wave file on download
  • an error will pop up, open explorer
  • the error will contain a path, go to the directory that is contained in the error using explorer
  • copy the wav file and put it somewhere else
  • get rid of the error and anything else you dont want up
  • chage the file extension from .wav to .exe

And that it, i cant put the file back here so youl have to find it by yourself, its about half way down the 3rd page

Good Luck

Ill make this simple, it means that there are files inside war3.mpq,becuase its kind of like a zip file. You use winmpq to view the files inside war3.mpq and get them out.
  • Open winmpq
  • Open the war3.mpq file
  • scroll down till you find:
    1. storm.dll
    2. ijl15.dll
    3. and game.dll
  • Highlight all of them by holding ctrl and clicking on all of them(if ctrl clicking doesnt work try shift clicking)
  • press the extract button
  • an exploror window will pop up browse to you system directory(c:\windows\system OR c:\winnt\system OR something similar

Putting the files in your system directory will make windows think they are important so all executables will be able to find them.

I hope you got all that.

Also, to my kowlage there is no other mdx->mdl converter

and for MasterSlowPoke, you dont want an updated version of the dll's becuase it can cuase errors, loads of people have had problems like that and its the entire reason why i tell people to get the files from war3.mpq

Good luck

You might have a bad copy of the war3.exe executable,
  • open up winmpq
  • open war3.mpq
  • find war3.exe
  • extract it to the folder w/ the file converter in it

If that doesnt work i cant help you

Good Luck

I'd not put the DLLs into the system directory. I'd rather put them into the directory where the File Converter resides. Copying these DLLs into the system folder of Windows can cause serious compatibility problems with other games which
  • another version of storm.dll v1.09 (i.e.: Diablo, Diablo II, D2: Lord of Destruction, Warcraft II BNE, Starcraft, Starcraft Broodwar)
  • use the miles sound sytem (this would be an endless list)
Additionally it can cause problems with any game/program that uses Intel JPEG library. So don't copy it into the system folder, but rather into the File Converter folder.

With regardes to the above post i have told people to do that many times but people just dont spend the time to look for it so i you know the answer then you should post it as much as possible. Putting the dll's in the system folder is anyones choice, there are arguments for or against it.

Oh and it seems there are finaly more people that can operate this product so since i havent done this stuff for like a month, just a post here and there im retiring so the other people can handle the problems people have w/ it.

So some final remarks:
  • This program SUCKS its really not wort the trouble and i cant beleive i put so much time into it
  • Put on in the system directory if u want
  • otherwise dont
  • thats all i really have

As always good luck
