Exactly =)

Anyway, the version I'd like to test is done. It doesn't include all features, too much at once is not balancable, but here's whats included:

18 unique towers with a total of 22 upgrades
Attack, attack speed and defense upgrades for towers.
3 tiers of monsters (45 monsters), and a 4th, special tier with 16 intelligent heroes who will use spells.
2 invasion types (might add a third before test, not sure)
6-7 profiles to choose from
2-3 global attacks

2 weeks ?? what other ways are there than simply using a tool like extprotect ?? I'm going to release a really epic map in the near future, on which I spent more than 5 months of creating and i wanna have a good protection.

Sorry for askinf such stupid questions, but how do you corrupt a file. I guess you open it via WinMPQ and do something with the files insiude, right? So waht do i have to do ?

Thats what Im trying to figure out lol. But use W3M map utilities. I think it does this, because you cant unprotect maps with it.

I wasted time trying to do it myself emote_confused

If a map is very complex and distinctive ppl wont rip it off. Its too obvious. 90% of the riped off maps we see use a simple game structure that is simular to a lot of other maps.

We released a unproteced ver of Revenge TD called Hive's Survival TD and we have yet to see a single mod or ripoff. Too bad realy, since we actualy wanted ppl to mod it.

Hah, first time I hear somebody complain that nobody stole a map :P

But really, imagine how easy it is for some people to:
- Open map "Duck's Survival version 1.2"
- Change the loading screen to "My Survival version 1.2b!"
- Change the filename from survival(duck) to survival(me)

Its really easy. No, really, it is. It is!

Yes I know not many do it but its still sad to see how easy it is =)

Hmm I could use some theorycrafting help here. How do I keep the game fair when 1 or 2 players are defeated? I could make it so a hired monster will appear at multiple places, but with 4 players that would require 50+ triggers just to do this. Not very nice.

Instead of a leaderboard, I was thinking of a more original way to show other player's income, by using floating text over one of your key buildings, located on the side of your fortress. It wont get in your way. Please tell me what you think (forgive the bad quality of the image):

Oh, that almost sounded rude (what I said). I did actually mean it.
I like the idea, and yes you should use it.
But I'd rather you would finish the map and THEN add extra feature to V2. Because I would rather play a less featured map then wait 2-3 extra weeks to have all these extra features.

No we dont want ppl stealing it (minor change and rename) but we did want to see ppl make mods of it using the engine. Well, we guess we could do without a wintermaul ver of it.

If you want a idea of how to balance it with a unknown number of players look at the map we sent you. Look at the spawn system. It deals with a changing number of players in this kind of map.

Yea go with the building text. its cool. Plus most ppl wont know about it till they see it cause they are playing the exp and not diving into the editor.

Nice model btw. Did you make it? If not who did?

Yes it did sound rude lol
There won't be a delay =), everything is already done and since I still have a week left before beta starts and ends, might as well take the time to add some things.

Well I made the scenery (which sucks totally, the sky is cut off and there are still signs of map edges but hey did it in 2 minutes), but the credit for winged Illidan goes to Blizzard, its in the campaign.

People can steal engines but totally change the map, so there probably are some mods out there using it but you dont recognize them anymore.

Got this to work nicely. There's 1 floating text box in the center now showing everyone's income, along with an Illidan there that will change color to resemble the player with the highest income (easy to check minimap then =)
