The Tale of Archon Part 1 Released!

Ah yes! This definetly has kicked the limbo bar down a notch. This cinematic has a very eye-catching and fluid approach to it, and it will take a lot of effort to beat it. I could tell just by looking through your Imports that this must have taken 2-3 weeks to create (if not more).

+Atmosphere: This is a very comprehensive aspect that I consider the most important to any map. It encompasses story, terrain, enviornment settings, doodad placement, and so on. The first thing I looked for in the editor were those trees. Fur Trees - very nice! The doodads made it seem like a completely unique tileset.

+Dialogue: Few spelling/grammatical errors. Most of the text had a sense of purpose about it that didn't bloat the plot.


The only thing that detracted, very minimally at that, was an overuse of establishment shots in the beginning.

Hmm I'm planning to make the moving camera scenes a bit smoother and slower, which will probably add about 5-10 seconds to the cinematic therefore making the music off timeing. So I might remove one or two of the fade in/outs at the beginning to balance it out :ggani:

I watched it again and the wasnt an archer... i spose the trigger didnt fire correctly or sumthin...

Damnit guys, now I can't even get ****ing Warcraft itself to work, on ANY of my computers. One says Direct X isn't installed (when it is, hell I even went all the way to 9.0b just to make sure). another, warps like mad when the game starts, freezing after awhile. The last, can't handle the damn game to start with.

Man I hate this, esspecially since everyone tells me how much this owns. After seeing you Gathering part I was lookin' forward to this :( .

I watched it yesterday and loved it :D the trees looked fantastic as did the custom skins (though the archer looked a bit too bright) I also liked the darker orcs and the mysterious Blood Mage guy. I really liked the bit where he got struct by lightning and then his animations he started to use the lightnings own power. As for the fade ins and outs I think it gave it a very atmospheric mood :D

DK....that is said to say that, you just cant make posts like this man it is wrong, and whats this "my level"? i dont get it any one how knows the triggers well enough they can make just as good as yours or any ones, so dont be acting like your the best beacuse YOUR NOT THE BEST CINEMATIC MAKER. any one can do as good as you ( well maybe not terrain wise :D ) and i just had to say that........(damn, i made a fool out of myself again)

definitely. You havent yet seen a cinematic with that much custom-made sound effects :)

I know you did a very good job on this one, like I said a million times before, but I'm still very anxious to see the final version :D

It's 72% now, and still takes ~10 mins to download the last 5 MB. Damn this is going slow, seems like the whole world is downloading it at once, lol 8)

Really, REALLY good job you did on the battle. The magic duel was very great!
I already made a review of the Beta at Revolutions, so I won't go that detailed right now (and besides, it's midnight right here, so I'm damn tired ;)), unless you want me to (just ask, and I'll make a detailed review for ya ;)). I think I gave you a 9.5 for the Beta? Well, I give you a 9.9 / 10 for the finished version! Why not the full score? Because:

1) You got - 0.05 because I think some of the cameras in the forest could be done a bit smoother. The city cams are perfect tho!
2) You got another - 0.05 for the custom fade filters ....... they didn't show up 8).

So, update it and you'll get the full 10 / 10! You deserve it! :D


Can't wait to see the next part! :D


And damn, I swear upon the graves of the people of Shinengua, that I WILL NOT miss the release of Part II! :D
