hey , just wanted to throw a couple links up for people who use maya....which i personally use....you can of course get the PLE, personal learning edition, for free....or you can get Maya Complete, which is about 2k or you can go Maya Unlimited, which is about 11k, i think ,,,not to sure on those prices ....but anyway....for those who are interested in low poly modeling in maya check out 3dbuzz.com and download a couple of their character modeling VRMs, which are basically video tutorials, you will find them in the Unreal section of the site, but the low poly modeling concepts will apply towards warcraft.....these are really good for starting in maya, or you can download a couple of the maya VRMs that will show you how to get started in maya....all the Unreal modeling tutorials also came on the Special Edition Unreal 2004....so if you can get that then that would be best...theres about 200 hours of tutorials on the 2nd dvd also check out 3dtotal.com and , just for kicks, or some really good concept stuff maybe cgchannel.com and cgtalk.com |

well. IMO, i like milkshape...and although im on their trial (20 days left eeek!) i find it easy to work with i just dl'ed a bunch of misc modeling software (including gmax) how good are these programs? 1. MB51 - win 2. blender 2.32 3. gmax and i found this sweet animation clip somewhere...its prolly made by 3dsmax...and its funny |

LOL jurrassic fart, but anyone here who would be willing to pay $3000 (or more) for 3ds max must be a total looser (no offence :D) Save up for a car then teh chicks will be all ova ya instead of you 'pwning' away at a $3000 program for a game. |

all know gmax, its from discreet like 3dsmax too! but no one knows Plasma! its also from discreet, and it realy rocks u can do modeling texturing/uvw mapping, animations and particle ermitters and arttools work because its 3dsmax based! |

I went with 3ds max... it's the far best to modelling sure it's expensive but hey... that's why you have a father that first buys 6 and then 5 to make me happy :P |
| 05-05-2004, 07:35 AM | #55 |
are you a millionaire? |
| 05-05-2004, 08:47 PM | #56 |
no, their old man works at the comp graphic /design/architect industry besides, its only $300,- for a student license |
| 05-06-2004, 06:03 AM | #57 |
$300 is still alot of money just to make lil models to run around :D rather upgrade my comp wid it |
| 05-11-2004, 08:47 PM | #58 |
Its worth every cent. You can make kickass-high pricy stuff with it ;). |
| 05-12-2004, 12:24 PM | #59 |
what's the low down on a student license though? is there a link for this? |
| 05-12-2004, 05:07 PM | #60 |
Mainly it runs only 12 months and you're not allower to do ANY industrial stuff with it. Only traininglike. |
