What do you think about the NEW Download System?

You guys really have trouble adapting to new stuff, the same happened with the upgrade and way too much things.

I checked the old system out just now (being new I'd never seen it) and the new system seems *much* better, like its easier to find stuff, the upload system sounds much better, and it looks better. Anyways, being new here I really know little, but to me it seems way better. How can anyone say its not as good? o_O

I opened a poll because I wanted to have a feedback on the changes so that other people won't bitch/spam about the disagreements/agreements in the news post that Darky made or even starting a new thread complaining about it.

So let's just take it this way, we separate the opposition and the coalition by a vote. Let it be this way so we can try to improve, add more features into the new DL system with suggestions and/or remove/subtract things that are suggested by the community.

The scripts are not yet finished -- yes, but it does not mean the whole NEW DL section cannot be utilized at all. We can call this as a BETA stage, main features are working and everything is running fine yet few features still needs to be added namely, the Login script, file merging: WC3C -> WC3Sear. These applied to the OLD wc3c download section, we opened it during it's early stages (no comments, no filesize, no map submission) everything lacks, just file uploading/downloading. Until we finished it, added features that the community suggested until it was finished together with the opinions and suggestions of the community. The result? -- A successful DL section that the community has asked for and suggested for.

I hope this explanation is clear because I(You also will) just need the people's reaction so that WE can coordinate with the community's need and suggestions to be able to produce a perfect DL section. ;)

The Download system rocks.
It has a great host that gave me many models, icons, and screenshots.
Wc3campaigns was getting laggy.
This will reduce the lag ------ considerably? I mean that is section that gets
many requests.

Actually ALL the files that you guys upload in www.wc3sear.ch is being uploaded on WC3C. So if you download a file in www.wc3sear.ch you are still draining the bandwidth of WC3C.

So basically www.wc3sear.ch only hosts and displays the files using its scripts.

Ironic huh? Check your download manager if you want to see where the scripts are fetching the data. ;)

Why not just use Darky's system on this site? If it's using bandwidth from both then what's to lose? And I bet you'd lose alot of complainers if it was still at wc3c, even if you kept the system exactly the same. People are like that.

Anyway, I like Darky's system, it seems much more organised that wc3c's one, and it's more streamlined.

I like the older version better, but it didn't have a special section for spells and stuff like that.

It did, but had a really small amount of files.

I Much prefer staying here. Not going to the other site. This site has a lot of variety to it.
Other then the variety here is why I like this site:

As far as I can see the main thing people are complaining about its that its on another site, thats just mad, what does it matter what site its on? As long as you get an easy to use download/upload system that works theres no real problem. It is a dislike of change methinks...
Tho I do have one complaint myself, it wont let me register, it just tells me "invalid_session" tho I really have no clue if thats my fault or not.

so is it possible to upload a skin pack that includes icons and skins. My team is about to release a huge skin pack soon and we dont want it all scattered.

I feel he olds system was simpler cleaner looking interface. It would be cool if sum of thos features were impimented here but this is hidious. No offense darky. 46% percent of the communitty dead on hates it. Thats 152 people cummon the communitty has spoken. I didn't fight about anything else here i thought the custom avatar fight was stupid. And all the bickering about the new format (i complained my self but they corrected the spaceing in betwen post quick). This is something thats important. Thats cool if u wanna search by artist, but it was mentioned that there would be team forums. WTF are people gunna do when they relase coop. work. Like the skin pack me and my team are doing. were gunna search by race and artist. U cant.
