Relations between this site and CampaignCreations are going down hill. It was only a matter of time.

For your information, Warbringer87 is the director of Warcraft III operations at Campaign Creations. He IS the liaison between CC and WC3C. ;)

Let's stay on topic and keep site differences OUT of this conversation now.

My final say on the subjest:

This is basically a one man team project,. I did all the unit data, i made everytihng with the exceptions of a some skins and the hero glows. And I just don't have the resources to get tons of shiny new models. I can't get a working copy of 3ds max, I have 56k, and its ILLEGAL (of course :P)

Idf i can't do it, i won't bother, expecially if i don't need it. i was able to do hero glows, but then the program exploded and stopped working, so i had ChumpsonParade do it for me.

Basically, anyone who thinks that DR is crap without models shouldn't be talking, because they aren't even capable of doing what I have done, and that is actually finishing something.

Note: In the version of TTOR i downloaded the time stop spell only worked for player1.

To say a bunch of graphics is better then months of balance is shear lunacy. The most important thing about a campaign is gameplay and of course the campaign. We shall see who the victor is after the DR single missions are released.

Eh, why in hell do you all have to compare this mod with TToR, or vica verca.

They're both incredibly different, with different mission goals, different team-sizes, different subjects etc. Warbringer and Rightfield have showed each other good respect in this thread. But then alot of you people come and bash one of them, and praise the other. Like how TToR's balance is at nature horrible. Well, it's not, it's not perfect either, but there is no reason to say that it sucks becouse it has art. And then are the other people who bash DR for no new models or sumtin.... Well, it has skins...and once upon a time that used to be enough, and a whole slew of gameplay balance.

It's exactly this kind of discussions (comparements) that cause community-wars... So would you all please grow up and stop it. This thread is mostly for praise, and if not praise, comments and critizism...and there I do not mean "SKINS SUCK, NO NEW MODELS" critizism, but gameplay/balance critizism.

Questions:

1) How did you know I was Ganon when you made this post?

2) If you are new to this site (based on registration date), how do you know that "Ganon" worked on the FPS Mod? (If you look carefully, all my old posts were completely deleted and left without a trace. And the website is not up anymore either).

3) I would have to assume, based on the 2 previous answers, that you are someone I once knew. Who are you? I won't have the admins ban you for duplicate accounts, but I am very creeped out by seeing a "new" person jump to those correct conclusions so quickly.

ahaha, i dont think he realised you were Ganon, i think he just figured, you, like many other people, were unimpressed by the FPS mod's final achievement :)

Btw, WB Ganon, whatcha doin here? I thought u left to mod HL 2 or something.

Nope, this guy cleary makes a connection between me, Ganon, and the FPS Mod. My post was about failing projects in general. He tied that into my experience as a leader of that project, implying (short of stating) that I was involved in that. Confusing logic, but logical nonetheless.

Just to let you know, I have also become productive, just in the slightly different venue of game development. I've found my niche at last too. It took me a while to realize my true interests and potential, but the wait was well worth it.

so what are your true intrests and potential?

and i still think your assuming too much.

"True interests & potential" - I have gotten back into Game Programming and have been working on an open-source, scriptable platformer and editor in Java for the past 2 and a half months, essentially ever since I left the Warcraft scene. I am happy to report that progress has been swift and steady and that I'm happy at my new location which is a more rooted and established game-development community that started much earlier than this one (1999-2000 I believe).

One person coding (that would be myself) and the rest (this amounts to 3 people at this moment) are assistants/contributors/whatever you like to call them who do the lighter job of creating levels, sprites, etc. (I also do this to a lesser degree) I was careful to choose dedicated people who were firmly rooted in the site.

The FPS mod was what it turned out, not only due to me, but also the concept. It just wasn't the right thing to do with Warcraft III. If it had been something simpler, it woud have been a lot better.

yeah, it was a nice idea, but the WCIII engine just wasnt designed for FPSness and it never will be.

Speaking of which, what ever happened to all the FPS mod models and skins that were completed?
