Sounds good =)

As you cant "float" with the wind if you can move, i think we can totally disable player movement and make them float instead. If i disable the ships turning, and then make it move to a point in the angle toward the wind -180 (simplified: would move FROM the wind, but look like it is disabled and doesnt turn).

Hmm that part of coming within range is a bit hard i think. Only player ships would be able to board, but they would be able to board both other playerships AND computer ships. Making computer AI that boards ships would take to much time.... i wanna take that time to make the stuff i have better instead=)

thats a pitty... how are you going to make computer controlled pirates then? they need to be able to board... and so do the battling forces. you need to have some boarding system i guess... maybe you could make it easyer somehow...

or ur going to need to *cough* write that AI...

Hmm... Well take alook at this then:

E: A unit is attacked
A: If attacking unit has 10% hp then ("variable_disable") ship
A: If attacking unit is in unit_group: pirates then
A: Make attacking unit ("variable_board") ship

If variable_disable makes it disabled and float, and variable_board forces the attacking unit to move in close and release boarding forces... it could work?

Hehe ok i though you were proffesional ;-)

Well what it does is that if a pirate ship disables a ship, it would run a trigger that makes the pirate board it

Ideas guy, once more, another cheerful visit, and I have many more ideas for opposite teams, I'll list some REAL medieval\ ancient\ etc teams, as well as various others.

Norse (they are vikings yes, but norse use more broad-swords while vikings have axes, they have worse armour and have blonde hair, as the vikings do also, but also some vikings have brown or ginger hair)
Saracen (Arabic race of people, who the christian armies fought in the crusades)
Spaniards (horse-riding cavalry men with muskets and armour. Also has the spanish Armada)
English (longbow-using strategical english, defeated the spanish armada and the french on several occasions)
Romans (infantry-wise conquerors with great strategies)
Ancient Greeks (spear-weilding infantary armies, highly advanced, with greek-fire which is a liquid fire used to sink enemy ships via their Fire-ships. Also use Mirror-towers which use focused beams of sunlight to sink enemy ships near coastlines)
Celts (Woad-covered barbarians of ancient britain, using axe, sword and spear effectively, never the bow as it is considered a cowards weapon)
Goths (Classic animal-skin wearin barbarians)
Saxons (chain-mail wearing, long-shield bearing saxond, have silver helmets and axes or swords)
Byzantines (the eastern roman empire that outlasted the clasical roman one, going into the medieval period. Decent cavalry men called Cataphracts, as well as may Heavy-Cavalry Archers. Very decent naval forces)
(I would go on, but Kejos doesn't like the japanese, chinese etc ancient armies, so...)

i think that most of them cant be used, since this is another univers, but u could make mirrors of em, like ppl who are like noreses or celts etc, but are called somthing else..

If u gonna use the real names, i think your tarrain should be diffrent and that there should be more land combat, and thats not what thois game is about..

i think this should be seawar inspired, so most of the wars were on the sea...

anyone seen the movie Hornblower, if you should make somthing about real history make about seawars in the Napolionwar, course that is one of the most interesting times.

and i also dont think u can mix a norse/viking into this, i think u should focus on..

France like ppl, english like ppl, spanish like ppl (they were bought to be whit france), and priates of some sort.. maby pirates could be a mirror of spain, and royal navy of english and so on dunno..

if this shoul be COOOL you should make it whit the Alliances of that war...

And then an add to the reputation system:
kejos, i think u should make so like, if u have X in reputation u are a officer, and if u have Y in reputation u are navel officer (x and y, is set insted of values)

Good idea alowan... and good list of teams :)

But i think vikings and royal's sounds like good teams... As there would be mostly sea battles. Human ships = royal
Undead ships = pirates
Orc = Vikings
Nightelf = just some ships who fit in on the other teams

And we allready got viking and royal island, the terrain is like 80% finished

i think u should come up whit own races..

like:

Royal Fleet (the most normal)
Pirates (uknow em)
Valcons (a bit like vikings)

or somthin...

Of course we will have mirrors silly, we are proffesionals, not n00bs!
I have the norse\vikings dock-tree here:

Spawns every x seconds: x Longboats (long wooden boat with a dragon head that fires flaming arrows)
x Galleys (little protection, ballistas on the ship instead of cannnons)
x Seige-Boats (large boat, not royal, fairly primative. has a catapult on the bow, best for when they reach the dock)

royal fleet dock tree:

.....
x Skirmishers (large row-boats with musketeers on)
x Galleons (the basic royal-fleet ship, cannons on all sides etc.)
x Bombard Ships ( large royalistic boat, very large bombard-cannon on the bow)

This is not official merely an idea represnted to Kejos.

And heres a custom theme for a race: they are barbarians yes, but not like most others. They have muskets but not pistols, scimitars for melee combat. They wear large amounts of fur and big hefty boots. thier ships are large, and hefty. They fire many muskets from their ships and sometimes use cannons. They enjoy raiding and plunder. They have no remorse, they usually have bblack hair. And their name is the Kemmish (as in English or Scottish or irish) (pronounced 'Khem-ish')

Lol proffesionals aye... :)

Those ship ideas sound good, but as we rarely will use models, i guess we can find something similar in WE and change skin. Ill start editing the first post with all our new ideas from now...

Current progress in triggers: All players have a captain and have to board their ship before it can move; up to 5 players multiplay sailing test. Gonna fix more complicated "sailing" affectors now.

note: Ships are not just spawned and sent away... workers will stand in the harbours and build up the ships. When they are finished, they are sent to the big fleet to assist.

Hehe as you are a part of the team i though you would know=)

Here's a direct quote from the first post:

Yes, each team will unload ground forces as soon as one of their attack transports reach the enemy island they are assaulting. These forces will try to capture the island. Ship's alone can only blow up the buildings close to the coast; the only way to capture the enemy base is by unloading attack forces. I have also though of giving some ships special "Cargo Bay", where they can have ground units to be unloaded at enemy island. This way pirate captains can have their own little plunder army which they unload on neutral islands and plunder it.
