Imbluebadabee, I am going to make it night the whole game. I thought I mentioned that somewhere... glad to see we are on the same level though. :D The tileset is really up to the map creators. I can make suggestions (just like your felwood one) but in the end, whatever works for the creators is what will be done. Hiring mercenaries per say will not work (if we do decide to implement a 3rd person camera view which I am very partial to), but maybe mercenaries that have preset attack paths could work. If you have good trigger ideas, post them (just like in your post) Lucky, Always good to have different approaches to the same problem. Your idea would be plausible, but just not what we are trying to get at. We want to be able to talk to a NPC, and have a random quest assigned. Keep looking for innovative ways to do this! got_ammo, looking forward to some class progress :D EDIT: got_ammo, I saw your e-mail and I will send you the info on the map as soon as I get a chance. EDIT 2: SpectreReturns, You seem doubtful in what I said... and I'm doubtful in what I did:ggani: . For all I know (in fact it is very likely) that I just screwed up somewhere in making the triggers (I am good at triggers, but I still make mistakes, alot, with more advanced stuff like variables and integers and arrays (can't really do integers or arrays... :gfu: ) EDIT 3: Lucky, Hope you look here, actually you were the one I had told I was sending an email, but I thought it was got_ammo (he put his email up, but I never specifically told him I would get him one), so I'll send yours when I can, lol sorry for the mix up :bangH: |

Honestly, one thread is not enough for this rapidly growing project, and I have registered and put up a trial forum at ezboard.com. This basically gives us 30 days to finish the map :ggani: [color=orange-red] IMPORTANT: I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SET UP A TEMPORARY FORUM (will last 30 days) THAT WE CAN USE TO FINISH THIS PROJECT!!!! Well guys, there hasn't been much progress. The other forum doesn't seem to be adequate at all, so we will not be using that. Xman- I saw your random quest thing: Looks awesome! When work is resumed on this project, we will probably implement that (I really wanted the quests to be even more random, like 10 locations, at each you can steal something. kill someone, etc, always random) But for now, this map is on the backburner, we really need a map (which I do not feel I could make and have it look great) and without the map there isn't really anything to do. When I am able to make a map, or someone can submit one, we can resume work. In the mean time I am going to begin working on a new campaign, involving Pandarens (imbluedabadee, I know you are too, but I think it is such a good idea it deserves a full campaign) |

First off, I am doing a huge amount of work on all aspects of this map. Without an actual map, all we can really do is plan out every aspect of the characters, and also what we want this map to be, exactly. I made up a new name, which I hope will be permanent. ================ CITY OF WOE, The Vanished Moon Plot: Deep within the kingdoms of Shar'vel lies the city Renkar, known more commonly as the City of Woe. Corruption, disease, dark dealings, and unholy afflictions plague this city, almost as if the standards and morals of the kingdom are reflected in the city. Swarms of young rogues, looking to gain wealth and prestige, flock to the City of Woe. Most are killed or abandon their ghoulish dreams to a life and death struggle. But a few come out on top of the rest, and ultimately control the city by controlling one of the three controlling factions. Recently, the decayed moon has faded from the sky, and the omen-readers of the slums know that a dark magic is building in this very city.... This map will have an actual story that it can follow. Whether it does or not depends on the actions of the players. Doing certain things at certain times unlocks new parts of the story, hopefully many of these parts will have cinematics to go along with them. ================== This map will have players controlling new rogues trying to work the system and become mighty lords. Players will be able to make allegiances amongst themselves at will, and break them at will. Backstabbing and sabotage are definately not frowned upon. =================== Gameplay will consist of doing quests and errands, and playing "games." Also, players at any point can fight each other, to gain huge benefits for their reputation. The more a player does for one of the two major families (or the mayor's faction) the more respect that area of the town will give him. Also, if certain events cause a AOS war to break out, faction affiliation will be automatic depending which part fo the city favors you most. Quests A large portion of the residents of the City of Woe will have tasks they want undiseased men to complete. Do these to raise reputation, level, and money. These range from stealing food, to assassinating leaders of great and "noble" families. Errands Errands are quests presented periodically (though still in random order) from the city which any hero can participate to gain money and reputation. These involve defending against attacks from monsters, to eradicating riots within the city. Games In the dark allyways heros can participate in many types of "games." These involve deathmatches, combat arenas, card games, as well as many other things. =============== HEROES I have the full list of heroes, and their abilities are under way. Part of the fun of this map is discovering new classes. This map utilizes a new class development system where heroes train at certain shops using their experience, allowing them to grow along three branches (these branches can interweave): Melee, Ranged Combat, Magic. I will PM all team members the list of classes and their descriptions and their skills ASAP (basically when I get done with them) =================== STORES There will be many types of stores. Some will be real stores, some merchant unit-stores. Among these will be item-creation shops (two small health potions become one big one!) and black market dealers (who will sell some crazy drugs, and I mean crazy) Heroes will be able to buy weapons and armors only if their class permits the use of such weapon or armor. Also, their will be schools (such as the School of Discipline) at which heroes can trade experience for strength, intellegince, or agility (each progressing its affiliated combat type: melee, magic, or ranged.) ================== WHAT WE HAVE AT THIS POINT: -In a few days all the proto-type character classes (including descriptions and skills) will be done. -A huge amount of the concept is finished. (a huge amount, like 80%) WHAT WE NEED: -Skins and (maybe) models -The map (literally, the map) AND ONCE WE HAVE THE MAP -Triggers, including random quest generators and other -Actual and rapid development of all other aspects of the map. Once we get the map, everything will quickly fall into place and the map should be done within a month or two (not that long for such an incredible project) =================== Miscellaneous stuff: TEAM MEMBERS AT THIS POINT: Gumby_Pornstar - Leader, skins, triggers got_ammo - triggers Thundertrails - terrain Lucky - concept help (characters, stories) galore Xman - Triggers, including what may become our Random Quest Generator These are the guys who still seemed active before the slow point in this map development. Anyone on the list who wishes off, anyone I forgot to put on, anyone who wants to be on, etc just PM me. (please don't post) There is a ton of other, very small stuff about this map that I have not mentioned, that will come later when we need to know about them. ================== Please post any questions, ideas, or whatever here.
