I figured out how to get 3ds Max recently and now I just want to know why its bad to get 3ds Max 6. One of you said something about you should only get 3dsmax4 because thats the one Blizz made wc3 with, and the other said he bought 3dsmax5 because it made you happy. Why? Why not just go with 6. Seems like you could do all the same stuff and more with the newest version. |

the Art tools does not work with 3dsmax 6!! and this is what makes modelling/exporting very comfortable! |

The art tools do not work with 3dsmax 6..... Does that mean they simpley arent there, they dont work because there is an error in code and they need to get a patch, or there is simply no tutorial out for 3dsmax 6 about the art tools and the general public cant use them? (heres my edit) ok, i looked at a guide and went to the site where you can get the Art tools... a plugin. You need a license of 3dsmax 4 to get it to work. So how do you even get the art tools to work for version 5? Anyway, this is an outrage. And why do some use 3dsmax 6 on here? Also, you said you need them for comfort. Which sounds like you only need them to prevent headaches. What exactly do they do? |

you can use 3dsmax6 there is an other exporter script what works fine too, but not good as the arttools, and those are a plugin/script witch modifies the max tool so that you can use special warcraft features |

You guys try 3D Canvas. Its very good and about 1000 x cheaper than any modelling programs I've heard of. Read my post for more info! |

3ds max for sure. Has a great interface, easy controls and makes beautiful renders. Maya may be better for animations, but 3ds max beats it in every other aspect. DeSty |

gmax and wings dont even compare and maya has a crappy UI |

I have gmax (can't afford 3DSMAX) and I wings, Wings is easy and I like it but it doesnt do animations, also since i'm a noob i don't know what unwrapping does or how to skin it. I wish i knew gmax better. |

3ds Max Owns All! |
| 07-03-2004, 06:18 AM | #73 |
1) Solid Designer 2) Milkshape 3) 3dsMax 1) no one knows its a professional program for over 15.000$ its a great powerful program, but forget export into 3dsmax and its perfect for highpoly modeling 2) easy to learn, but you need manny converters and some knowlege in mdl editing if you want to practice all you could use for wc3 models 3) 3ds max is definitly the best one (needs realy some time to learn it) but with Blizzards Art Tools its the most comfortable Program for wc3 modeling you can practice modeling uvw mapping animations and particle ermitters without other converters! so i give 10 of 10 points to this |
