Chill fellow gamers, there is already an importer for wmo and m2 models. And it is fucking legal :)

go to http://www.unwrap3D.com download v2.17 or v2.18, then download theplugins for WC3 and WoW, and you can already look at any object in the game.
Note that the m2 models do NOT contain animation and the wmo files do not contain references to texture, except ... the first file, contains the list of textures. I explain; there are always two files, when you try to import in Unwrap 3D it will say, "no geometry found", in that file the list of textures is found. You can just open that with wordpad.

The best blp2 viewer is called WoWblpViewer, and guess what, it can be downloaded right here !!

I do wanna see the tool you guys r makin finished cause I like modeling and stuff so don't be dissencouraged by my mail, it is just for helping u guys.

Ok so it's like this. There is a way to save with that thing but not that easy. The biggest problem is that the only version that can do this is version 2.14. Now I don't know if I'm right but it can use the plugins from v 2.15 and 2.16. Here's the trick: ALL OF YOU SEARCH FOR THE 2.15 2.16 OR EVEN 2.14 PLUGINS, cuz I did ths allready but didn't find anything. So if you guys have them please post them. And the m2 contain animation data, is just that the plugins don't import it. The file is a viewer for M2, WMO, BLP2 and the terrain files. Also if you guys need I have this thing that converts the m2 to 3ds, without the animation, and a wow map viewer witch let's you see the world complettly. I also have the source codes for this progs, except the convertor. There is a page dedicated to the WoW formats, http://wowmapview.sourceforge.net/wiki/ , hope it helps. Now If anyone starts making a script to import this stuff post it. And please guys release some screens atleast so we can see how it's gonna look and stuff like that, cuz I've been whaiting for months (I understand you need time, but give some feedback).

I already seen this link.

My wmo importer imports geometry with textures. The problems with wow models is that textures are applyied to faces and not to differents meshes. Then i had to write a code that separate the model into différent meshes.

My m2 importer imports only geometry, i made a scripts that read textures names in appropriated dbc files, but i have to find hox get the textures used by the faces.

But for now, i m finishing the mdl importer. And then i ll release it with wmo importer.

Nice, when do you suspect it will be out and also I agree on the beta version, importing wow models and stuff coul'd help even if it does it with some bugs for the start, and maybe feedback from the people who will use this would help improve, so go for beta :)

Oinkerwinkle's tools didn't help modelling at all, it made people model less and GEOSET MERGE MORE!

If only the export function would work... lol

u should export it to X format, so the meshdeformation doesn't get screwed and so u can keep the animation smoothly.

Of course this is completely up to u
