What do you think about the NEW Download System?

the download section is rubbish on all of the other download pages on the net that i have downloaded mods and skins from (and that is a lot) this is the only one which does not allow me to extract the files. cure this problem and i'll be happier.

if all old good models from the old dl section would be there it would be a little bit better

If you can't extract data from .ZIP or .TAR archives, that's your fault, not Darky's download system's. Just get WinRAR. Or, if you're talking about being unable to open some downloaded maps, that's because they're protected.
If you meant something else, please rephrase your question.


wc3sear doesn't really need advertising. It's doing alright on it's own. Darky's DL system is cleaner and it looks better.

As far as I know, all the old models are there. Some may have been removed, but that's because they broke rules.

irs so funny 199 peple dislike the system and still no even a comparmise.

The ONLY thing i like about this new version is that u can see a lot more things at once....

List of needed improvements:
1) user needs to be able to set number of items on 1 page, (the wow icons take about 15 min to load on my comp...)
2) y did they get rid of so much of the material in skins section??? (i know a lot of it was garbage, but Someone might like it...)
3) maybe put a place for filepaths of shit, so that people dont have to go begging to find them...

New Features are awesome. As i understand integration between the two sites is still being developed. My only real complaint now is the page download time, it's definately slower. Like someone I think said, the icons page takes forever to load.

Probably because they didn't give a serious point to say that the old one was better.

The only problems with the old D-load section was… :(

1: The biggest thing is QUALITY CONTROL. Im sure ur script automatically uploads the item. But a Sublime icon? Really u gotta be kidding me, that dosen't even require effort nor will anyone use it, and that's only one of many.

2: The comments system. It would get spammed 2. All they needed 2 do was get rid of it.

Problems with the New D-load section… :<

1:I don't know what u guys are talking about but the old dload section was MUCH SIMPILER therefore being less cluttered. It was just a dload section. The first thing I see when I click is advertisements for Natures call stuff, and news. I don't care about news at a site I don't visit often but there it is right on the front page cluttering it all up. No offense 2 u darkey but I think the site is just irritating 2 look at. Its also 2 stark a diff in the look mostly because of the bground on ur site.

2:There were descriptions of what each section held. Did we forget about the newbs. They don't exactly know what everything is. Isin't a site always supposed 2 be user friendly.

3:Not Being able 2 upload Zip/RAR in the any section. What about people who make packs. Wc3c was saying on a post on the front page that there will eventually be team Forums. Now I have a team already, We have a skin pack we are working that on includes every non undead hero as part of the undead army. Now we can't upload this because there is no support 4 skin packs. Also the fact that u have 2 search by artist dosen't let u look for our team “Insomnia Graphics� You have 2 look up by individual artist.

4: Double the registration I know that u said u will try 2 change this in the future but it still is a problem that is here.

The Good Things About the new Dload section… ^_^

1: The actual display for all the actual sections. They are displayed very nicely, simple, straightforward.

2: the organization is awesome the fact that u can look by artist and race is great. What lacks is the ability 2 look by A
team.

3: The waiting screen section is awesome.

The things that would resolve this… :(

1: If some of the script was just used here. The files are still eing uploaded her any way and the bandwith here is still being used. You know how when u used the old dload section u would see al the sections with a description, kinda like a spash page, Then the actuall sections could be like darkys. Maybe on that section you could have the top download 4 each section like u have now with the small images but only 1 for eash so it wouldn't take up so much room. Same thing 4 newest downloads.

2: Same exact format in the way everything looks makes it feel more like 1 site.

2: An interface section.

4: Everything above in the� Whats wrong� section to be fixed.

5: maybe a miscellaneous section that could include Skin packs and crap.

Conclusion…

“the rest.You guys really have trouble adapting to new stuff, the same happened with the upgrade and way too much things.� That was over pretty quick The people were listened 2 and they fixed things like the spacing between posts. That was ridiculous. I like the new format here. It was quite a diff, but is way better.

A large part of the community dosen't like it and its 4 a reason, that's the bottom line. This isn't a community any more if the community has no say in what needs to be done in the community.

This poll isnt here as a purpose to change the decision we did to use wc3sear.ch as wc3campaigns download section.
Fact remains:
With 40'000 page hits a day and over 2000 unique visitors, wc3search is one of the biggest download pages for warcraft3.
15'000 downloads a week. Thats 1.5 downloads per minute :>
No other warcraft3 resource webpage has such full featured scripts i offer on my website.
Another reason why we choose wc3sear.ch as download section is, because i'm maintaining it.
I constantly improve the page and add new features. I also have always an open ear for suggestions.
About your statement Mocks Download page is perfect:

To be honest. If you dont like wc3search I have no problem with that. There are thousands of people who actually like it and support it. The increase of downloads by 50% since wc3campaigns announced the new dl section speaks more than the few flamers in this thread.
Feel free not to use the new download section if you dont like it.

PS: there is a wc3campaigns theme for wc3search so the look and feel of wc3campaigns is there. As soon as its 100% finished you can choose between the 2. Example:

(just add "&wc3c=1" to every link on wc3search to temporary switch to the new style)

i dont like how in maps it shows you the entire map spoiling the secret parts.
