See this thread for info on implanting files in to the .wcm file: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...&threadid=8896

There are several explanations floating around this board so that doesn't work just do a search. Here's another for you just in case: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...&threadid=7540

Two things to note. Unless you need Starfall to potentially be avalible in both posistions you don't need to mess with the .slk file at all since button posisitions are stored in the .txt files. The other thing is that you are going to need another tool, Wqp2k or something it's called, to implant the files you can't do it with the spell editor.

Think I know what your problem is, I ecountered this myself. Go into your .slk file, just open it up in notepad or another basic text editor. Check near at the end of the file or after any added abilitys/spells for extra "E"s. Having too many will mess it up and cause the spell list to be blank, heres an example of what I mean.

Quote:
C;X56;K"-";EIF(ISNUMBER(RC[-37]),IF(ISNUMBER(RC[-25])<>ISNUMBER(RC[-13]),"@","-"),"-")
E ;x ;x E

Not sure if this one of those XP bugs you mentioned or not Daishi, but this is what happened after adding a new spell then saving the abilitydata.slk a few times in the editor. Besides for this the program works great though, i've gotten used to text editing the SLK some anyway since I have no regular spreadsheet editor. Anyway, thanks for the program and hope this helps Marc.

I know that u can add new spells with the spell editor, but do u have to add the new spell into the func.txt and strings.txt too.....

You don't add the spell info from the slk file, but you need to create a strings/func entry for your tooltip/art to work properly. This thread explains whats needed to edit in the race strings/func files. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...5&pagenumber=1

I am having problems making DaishiofDeath's Spell Editor work. I first downloaded it from this site, wc3campaigns.com, and I quickly picked up on how to modify the attributes of different spells. When I attempted to use the "SavetoMPQ" button, it would only open files, not save them. Either I'm doing something wrong, or I have a bad version of the Spell Editor (probably both). I tried downloading DaishiofDeath's link, but it gave me those weird programming phrases which I haven't the faintest idea as to what they mean. How do I download the latest version of the editor from this link? Could I have a new link to the latest version so I can be certain the version I have is not the problem?

When I looked under sid67's "Spell/Ability Editing 101" thread, I realized I didn't make all the supposed preparations that are listed. Is extracting the war3.mpq and war3patch.mpq required to use this editor? If so, how do I extract the files? I cannot do anything with them noramlly - i.e. opening and extracting all the files to make a folder for them. In order to make new spells, should I follow Spell/Ability Editing 101 precisely to do so, or is all that not necessary?

I know I am asking a lot of questions, so I will summarize what I need:

1) A new-WORKING link to the latest version of DaishiofDeath's Spell Editor
2) Instructions (possibly a link) on how to use this SPECIFIC editor

As you can tell, I am very new and ignorant to programming, so feel free to laugh at me (just go "AHAHAHAHAHA, Stupid!"). Please, take some pity on me and help me out. I have all these great ideas for different maps, but I lack the skills to do them.

Thank you very much for your time!

Tarchon, to use this editor first download TechMPQ (can be found by google) and use it to extract AbilityData.slk from your war3patch.mpq (or war3.mpq). You move all your files (DaishiofDeath editor, AbilityData.slk) to your Warcraft III directory.
When you open up Spell Editor, click on "Load." Load AbilityData.slk. Click on a spell, then click "Edit" to change it. After you are done, click save to mpq and save to the map you want the spell to be in.
NOTE: You have to type in the name of your map because for some unknown reason, Spell Editor doesn't recognize maps. :hammer: :dH:  :guns: :sorc:

I'm also having a problem with creating new spells using the editor. Each time I hit the new spell button, the program crashes. I sorted through the topic and tried to download the latest version of the editor:

SpellEditor.exe

Ok I did all this, I extracted the file, edited it, everything. When I hit Save to MPQ and type in the map name all I get it a option to OPEN... there is no SAVE button... so if I hit open nothing happens. IN other words, even if you hit save-to-mpq you can't save. Any ideas?

Okay,
1. The button says OPEN but I think it still saves.
2. Don't open the file in World Editor (it erases custom files)
3. Don't forget to type in the map name exactly (including .w3m)
4. If this doesn't work use wiebbe's or axiverse's editors instead

I'm able to get it to work for everything but the world editor.
