Oinkerwinkle's vertex modify program is the best free modeling program because you can change existing units and save them unlike gmax......3dsmax and maya are too expensive

3ds is great, have 7 now. but, its can be confusing. i would suggest if your saving up for it to get gmax, because it can help you learn a little about 3ds since its just a scaled down version of it. gmax dosent suck, but it needs better exporters.... but it wont get any.

I do not recommed blender. The GUI is full with buttons and its very very hard to use.

how do you open stuff with blender? thats why i never got past installing it...
gmax can animate! just need a converter from gmax to 3ds so i can make a movie...
