You've Got a good point there Necrosis. Even CoTN Has That weak point.

Another one. Everyone Seems To Be A Rookie Playing with the Camera (CoTN Plays with the camera very good). You Need a lot of extra work there. Make a Good Use Of The Camera By Decreasing The Far Z, and try to apply cameras while other cameras are still being applied.

I watched this on my new, custom built (by me :D) 2.47 ghz computer and there was NO LAG!!! I'm so happy. But anyways, I liked the terrain of the town a lot. For some reason it just looked cool. One problem I had with you terrain is that the buildings (like the barracks and whatnot) were not scaled up to look life-like. Other than that, no problems with terrain.

Story was kinda... well boring. I didn't really feel drawn into the movie. I had no background information about the characters, no idea why there was a mage attacking the city... I was lost half the time (the other half I was looking at the terrain. Really cool). I know it's just the intro, but you could still be able to develope the characters. Dialogue seemed kinda cliche... 'specially the "NOOOOOOOOO"..... etc. Personally, I don't think anyone in real life would scream like that... so improve your dialogue.

TERRAIN WAS GREAT. Good job.

Just a message for those who say the story in COTN has lacks. It is true, 'cause I started with something quite sucky which was a test actually. You can't really do something awesome with a weak start. If I had to start over, trust me the whole thing would be quite different and much more credible, yet you can't really go back :)


P.S. A war3 cinematic cannot be too great, it can be good if you push back the limits, yet there are limits that just make your cinematic not so credible (nearly impossible to have the characters show emotions with voice, or facial emotions, or specific moves: you just have some static actors. And what makes a good movie? actors of course! :D).

eh, u really like to bash the story-driven type of cinematic. Without very good graphics, one must rely more on a story and emotion than eye-candy. I know it is hard to show emotion in wc3 but that is one of the challenges that can be over come. With voice acting and music emotion can be portrayed very well. And you can do something really awesome with a weak start. Everything u have done up until cotn part 3 could have been a good start to the archetypal hero quest. there could have been alot done in part 4 to help the story, so dont give the excuse of a weak start.
A good movie is not a result of the actors. A story driven, thought provoking movie is much better than a movie with excellent actors. If you can convey the story with what you have and make it entertaining then your job has been done.

yeah DK...the thing that drives most movies is music..not facial expressions and the tone of there voices...i mean..watch a horror movie muted..it's not scary at all..because..you know someone's gonna die when that music comes on..and also..big fights..they aren't nearly as good with out music...WC3 cins can be great..if you just take the time to make the dialouge realistic and the music have more feeling in the work

Hey DK you could change it a little bit in the full version of CotN.
Oh and I don't think this has been answered yet but how did you get the cape on the footman?

Oh and Beam you said that it had no storyline whatsoever and that is because it was the first part! CotN had like no story and didn't even say the name of the main character! It didn't explain why those dead creatures attacked the small town also. So its just because it was the first part and in war3 cinamatics there is usually little to non story at all or any info on characters.

Necrosis - The white flashes were supposed to be fade filters that displayed the text "The Tale of Archon" and stuff, but I have them at the wrong size which causes some video cards to render them as white flashes - will be fixed in the final version.

Mixios - Mid quality sounds? You mean crappier then the stuff I have now, or do you mean that the stuff I am using right now is low quality???

I realize that the story/dialogue sucks *** right now, but I will seriously revamp it in the future (The dialogue that is, story will remain mostly the same) I see alot of people failed to catch on to the mysterious part of the story (a.k.a. why the mage was attacking the city) The story would fall apart like crumbs if I told the story of why he attacked, before. I am writing some history/background info on TTOA, and I will hopefully have something released pretty soon. This may clear a few things up.
I may include some information about what had been happening over the past month (Like rumors, a bit about people who think they know of this mages motives, etc...)

For now let me tell you a few things (very basic here btw, I'm still deciding exactly how I will convey the story later, and modify the first part)
This mage has been planning for around 5 years, gathering up followers. He has spies/assassins/armies, etc... hiding all over Kiran-Hal. Only a few leaders, mages, some other high ranking people in the human cities, and the elves know much about him. Shinengua was his first and sudden strike. The people trying to track him down and determine his motives had know idea that he would strike there. His plans are much greater then this, and you will learn of them on Archon's journey...

One thing you will see in TTOA is the mysterious attitude it takes on sometimes. (Sometimes a "Why the hell did he/she/it/they do that, what are their motives, why did that happen" attitude, and other times a "**** I wonder what is around the corner" type emotion. All loose ends will be wrapped up though.

Of course there will be plenty more army vs. army battles, hero vs. hero battles (all much better then the Shinengua attack), freakin nice terrain, some sentimental scenes, some running (don't worry not all over the bloody continent. I have plenty of time to make the characters move over 15 parts :ggani: ), and plenty of other stuff like scary scenes, good music/sounds, and humorous scenes (Hehe not like parodies, but I intend to make the characters very real, and to do that you gotta have em laugh and make jokes a bit)

Well its the weekend so I got 2 days to work on TTOA :ggani:
If you haven't noticed, I've been afk from the TTOA forum from 3 days, so I've got some work to do.

Guys something strange just happened!

I clicked the link and it said the 404 could not be found. But then the server starts typing to me telling me how deppresed it is and how terrebly sorry it is that it couldnt find me the wep page i wanted. And it was blabbering on about getting thrown away it lasted at least 5 mins.

Well thought you should know...servers can talk

Lol. That was made by.... damn I forget who made it. It pops up when a file can't be found. For some reason that link went bad, but its been fixed now.
