Setting a NEW standart mpq for mappers\modders out there

well, basically we are working on a mpq that will (hopefully) be the standart in the community to make maps. This mpq will be added to the Krill and future campaigns, but we hope that it will also be used for other purposes, like mods based on this mpq etc :)

anyways: what we are going to add in the mpq is at request. SO if you have a special need that you wanted to have in the game implented and its doable, just post it in this message here. We will try to add them there then to give you guys a more fun experience then =)

You can also use mpqdraft and just load all mpqs you want :)
Anyway; I'm working on a hero marine (Jimmy Raynor) with his own sounds; skin and interface icon. There's 2 problems that need solving though:
1) I can't get him to be a hero unit.
2) His custom skin won't load just for him(hex-edited .mdx). Only if I replace the marine skin file it works, but then the marine looks like raynor too, only smaller.

I'll upload his mpq as soon as I've got this fixed; anyone got any ideas?

I have some ideas, dealing with UnitMetaData.slk stuff.
Well, tomorrow i'll try to get a job and i'll be busey, but i'll try to send some ideas.

well using mpqdraft you can have new graphic and new sound for you units and still be compitable with other users...BUT they don't see the change (Something i deem unimportant)

Nevermind, ill wont be using new unit/sound implentation anymore, only data and other stuff

sound/model unit problem is fixed

Edited unitmetadata.slk:

- Fields added:
* ButtonposX
* ButtonposY
* Specialart
* BuildingSoundLabel
* Missilearc
* unitSound

For now , none of original Fields were modified.
BTW, this is for our testing purposes only ppl. It can lead you to the MPQ-Desync problem.

Hm, I'm not sure if this is related at all, but i'd like to see options to be able to edit the spells (such as auras, their stats and such).

*Hmm, I tested out those mpq viewers and I can see now where to edit this stuff.
New question tho, so once I edit these slk files, how do i get the editor to run off this new data? and once i save a map using this new data, do people just need the map, or do they need a copy of this slk? Sorry newbie editor.

well, if you edit the slk, people must have the exact copy of that slk, otherwise you will cause desync error

Also, although in WE, it doesnt require to be added in a mpq, BUT if you want to test ingame, you must import the slk back into war3patch.mpq Backup recommended. How to add them?=Use mpq2k, which is in downloads/tutorials section =)

I know this is a pretty tedious thing to ask for, but I'd like for all the upgrades and abilities to be accesible by all races.

I find that I currently wish to swap around abilities and upgrades between races in my current attempt to create some War2 style maps.

Or if anyone could just make something that can edit and create them for a map that would work too.

I'm working on an RPG Mod and as you can imagine I want to do alot of changes to the Abilities ;)
I already managed to change the Buttonpositions and the values of the Abilities by editing AbilityData.slk, UnitAbilities.slk and all the ...Func.txt. What I couldnt change so far and what would be cool:
- The number of hero abilities is limited to 5, changing the maxvalue in UnitMetaData.slk didnt solve this problem.
- I cant create new Abilities, in fact I just can replace old ones by editing their values. (I think anywhere is a description what the ...Func.txt files contain, but so far I found nothing)
- Abilities are limited to a lvl of 3, would be cool to make more lvls
- There are only 12 positions (3*4 matrix) available for Abilities, would be cool to expand this matrix
- Same with Items
- Would be cool, if one could create own Buttons/Fields, so that you could show an own Inventory/Skill Menu like in diablo 2, wow this would be great!!

Do you think that with this mpq it will be able to play on battle.net? (perhaps if all players have the same changed mpq, could this work?)
