opening cinematic lagging problems ??

Hi all,

I have made a really nice normal melee map with an introduction movie.

There are some items in it like a “Soul gem that I want the players to know. So I made up a little story in witch I explain some things about the map and show the really big creeps.

When I strat the map on my computer (so witch computer allies and enemies) the opening cinematic does just right fine. But when I play on battle net not all players start right away (some lag for a few seconds), this causes the movie to run strange (in a fast way, like he has to catch up with the movie time)

Does anyone know how to get this right; I really want a smooth running cinematic on battle net. I myself think I need a little pause just before the movie but not in the movie itself to wait for lagging players (but this causes the same effect)

:D I really could use some advice :infth:

Did you use Waits? cause if you did Waits don't work well on bnet like say for instance you want it to display text message for 10 seconds if ur on bnet with another person it will be 5 seconds. The Easiest Solution Is Itegers you set like Play slot status = Active and u gotta run this trigger each time you start the map, then u do Integer A from 1-4 and stuff like that. hope this helped you :D

Yes it must be the wait bug. It's the most common bug on maps out there and most people just overlook it as lag or something if they don't know about it. AfterShock's method should work but if you can't get it then PM me or AfterShock and we'll see what we can do

Another way ive found that garauntees waiting is to only have one wait per trigger. If you do this, the wait is garaunteed and it doesnt require any timers.

Although the timer solution is also very good, one wait per trigger is pretty much the easiest and safest way (ive always encountered difficutly with the looping waits in the past)

Hi fellow map creators,

Yesterday I came upon u to ask how a multiplayer pause could work correctly and smooth, after a couple of replies I got some inspiration and when I came home I tried some things out, but still it isn't working like its supposed to be.

Ideas of myself:
Create separate camera moves for every player (cant be done cause player 1 and 2 are in same group and cinematic works in groups not for separate players (correct me if I'm wrong))

I wanted to place a variable like AfterShock said, but this causes confusement to the players. I get a situation like “u think the maps starts u click a unit but suddenly a cinematic starts. I still need waits to make the camera move around in the correct speed

If I get rid of the waits in the intro movie trigger the movement speed of the camera goes to fast

I included my map for download

:ggani: Plz help me out, I really want people to enjoy playing the map online, and the intro brings more value into the game.:ggani:

Additional map information

It's a 2 vs. 2 melee map, but I am not following blizzard ladder standards :D
Each team starts of on a mountain with two peaks on witch the start location stands. If the players work together the mountain can become unreachable for the enemy team until (siege or just smart playing)

Extraordinary creeps.
More to buy in the goblin merchant (wand of illusion, anti magic potion, scroll of mana)
More to buy at the mercenary store (Ogre lord, elder squelsh)

Item information

Soulgem: The blue dragon (yea the big one) holds a soulgem, I find this item rather amusing in a multiplayer game. (Two soulgems can be found in the game), The soulgem is one of the thing I want to attent the map players for in the cinematic

I still have to work on the amount of gold the mines start with, start locations should have less be-cause this causes the player not to expand, when a player does not expand it doesn't encourage him to creep.

first of all Nice map,
Second try this to see if the cinematic works right

1. first make the trigger like this, this will be applyed for for your second camera: For each (Integer A) from 1 to 4, do (wait 12.00 seconds)

Note: ive been looking for somthing to make it check at start if there is 4 players or 3, anyways it should be like

Player slot status 1 = On
Player slot status 2 = on
p3 statys = off
p4 stats = off

Then set For each (Integer A) from 1 to 2, do (wait 12.00 seconds) u see what i mean? it checks in diffrent orders, or am i doing this hard way trigger experts?

Only skip that part until someone helps u with that

2. Make ur cinematic trigger like this: Pick every player in (all players) and do (Camera - apply 02 dragon1 <gen> for (Picked PLayer) over 12.00 seconds)

You see? you set integer from 1 - 4 that would mean 1 players in game or 2 or 3 or 4 understand? and it will do the 12.00 seconds wait correctly, hope this works. If i explained it wrong, then someone else exsplain it for him thanks.

i thought it was very well made i played it once with comps it was fun, there is just like some open fields should mix up the terrain a bit more on those spots, other then that Great map:D
