I don't know what these are for or what they do. But I saw a mod which you'll need to DL an SEMPQ before you play it. I also saw a tool that makes these, MPQDraft, but I don't know what purpose they serve on Wc3 mods. The answer might be important for my current mod. If the answer is installing the mod in your Wc3, then plz tell me if it does triggers/units/game interface/gameplay constants/imports and more. Thx in advance! ![]() |

I never knew these existed... But anyway, TO ME it LOOKS like something you'd place in the WC3 folder so that it overrides certain paths. Sorta like UMSWE. EDIT! Yeah um... The download links are somewhat broken, so this is an assumption. |

SEMPQ's are supposed to be like .EXE's. You just execute them/double-click (I'm certain). I'm also certain that you don't need to put them in a specific folder. Theoretically (I'm not certain how it works), the file launches the game/whatever but has different files inside the SEMPQ itself, which overrides default ones. (Might be worded badly.) |

OMG, I can't believe how spoiled the wc3 modding community is - to think that knowing this shit was a requirement for modding starcraft... Anyway, a SEMPQ is basically a program that soft-patches a given program, be SC, WC3, so its self-contained mpqs take higher preference when loading the game data. It's pretty much like maps do, only that they affect the whole gamewhile running, instead of just a single map. they would work for total conversions, and perhaps certain custom campaigns. They are quite pointless for multiplayer maps, given the program would need to be running on all players's pc to sync correctly. Also, it is likely putting metadata files there (the files used when editing stuff in the object editor and perhaps gameplay constants and game interface adjustments) will not work, as the maps will probably overrride them. |

Yea, you're right. The world editor is so bug free & easy to use, that the maps practically make themselves! |

its actually just mixing war3.exe and a certain mpq so that it'll run on its own.. for example the new Dawn of Chaos demo build most likely used SEMPQs |

I'll tell you what they are, they are deprecated, people should just use grimoire... |

Download latest AMAI SE edition for an example. It loads in AMAI.mpq. In the old method with SEMPQ that mpq was the executable. |
