What do you have to do to setup decent symmetrical AoS terrain that looks good, right shape, size, ect. I'm not looking for like a step by step tutorial I'm just lookin for tips, I mean, take DoE, it has great terrain, anyone got any tips?

It depends on the type of map you want to achieve more than anything else. Hell, whether it's even symmetrical or not depends on what you want to achieve in making it.

The only tip I can give is that you want to remember that the terrain has to be playable, diverse, and easy to navigate.

First, get the basic layout and construct it. Then you can shape it more and gradually add terrain and doodads. ;)

That's what I would do. It makes it simple. :)

I hate symmetrical terrain. If the terrain doesn't look natural, I get ill.

Well, there are two methods that I use to begin with:
  • Functional Blueprint
    - Use pen and a paper to draw the main-paths between the bases. Then figure out where you want the off-path walkable areas (connection between paths). After that, work out where you want towers/powerups/etc. to be. Then create the terrain so that it fits your desired gameplay.
  • Aestethical Blueprint
    - Make a sketch on how you want the map to look. For instance, you can draw rivers, forests, mountains, deserts, swamp areas, and so on. Then adapt the gameplay to the terrain.

The second method is imo. better for creating beautiful and realistic terrain.
