Gmax Texture problem

This is my first attempt at modeling, and I've spent quite a few hours on my own experimenting and figuring things out. I've figured out how to make the model (I'm using gmax), unwrap it, and map an ingame texture to it. I made a small knife projectile which uses parts of the Texture\HeroBladeMaster.blp skin (From the blade and the earing)

So this is my problem. When I view my finished model in several wc3 model viewing programs (wc3viewer and War3ModelEditor), everything looks fine and the knife is properly textured. However, when I import my model into the wc3 editor, the model is no longer textured but is covered in teamcolor. Can anyone help me to understand what's causing the difference between the model viewers and the game itself?
