Hello, if anyone out there is looking for a campaign to get involved with here's your chance..

Right now I want to develop a campaign that acutally involves a story that is intersting (Unlike ROK, Not to poke fun, it was good, but had no story) also i want it to be a sort-of Grand Theft Auto where you can either go and get missions...or just run around killing innocent...or doing various penny jobs...although there will be a linear story involved in certain missions...basically right now i need 3 people to help me out...

A Skinner: *For various hero's and creatures*

A Importer: *I have tried for awhile and can not get a skin in the acutal map*

and A Trigger Assistant: *Basically to look over my triggers and help make some more triggers*

If you are willing to help reply to this message and then E-mail me (at [email protected]) your name, e-mail address, and what you want to do

Thank you

I can help you out with importing stuff into maps. In fact I'm sure I could give you the steps and instructions to do it yourself.

It took me a while but I figured out how to do it.

I'll add some instructions when I get the chance.

Here is a step-by-step manual for getting just a basic skin into a map. (this is from memory so bare with me)

1. Using imageextractor, extract a skin you want to edit (right click, then save it into any file you want)

2. Edit the skin in whatever program you want.

3. Re-open the skin into imageextractor. Do this by going to file and open image (not mpq). The picture will be loaded into the image extractor.

4a. Go to Save and save the image with the same name it originally had, BUT CHANGE THE .TGA or whatever TO .BLP!!!! (if the skin was originally HeroDemonHunter.blp, save your new skin as the exact same name.)

4b. Make sure you save it into the same folder which contains the TechMPQ (this is what I use) I suggest you dedicate a folder just for Techmpq.

5. Move the map which you would like to use this skin in into the folder with TechMPQ in it. (Make sure both the map and the skin are in the same folder as TechMPQ)

6. Open TechMPQ. Click the button 'Add or Replace File'.

7. There are three lines. For the first line, hit browse. This will take you into the folder which TechMPQ is in. The skin .blp will be in there. Click it and hit ok.

8. For the second line, hit browse again. This time, click the map you want this skin in and hit ok.

9. The last line is a little tricky. You will probably need image extractor open.
Here you type the "path" of the skin you are replacing (or whatever else for that matter)
This works in steps. For example, the HeroDemonHunter.blp skin is under textures, so I would type textures/HeroDemonHunter.blp, or if I was replacing Jaina, I would type units/human/jaina.blp (or whatever it is exactly.)

10. When all those things are done, hit MPQ it! and it should say file exchange procedure complete or something like that.

11. Move the map back into a WC3 map directory, and you are done!

There you have it. 11 steps to putting editted skins into maps. There are faster ways I'm sure, but this is the only way I have bothered trying.

One last (and highly importnt) note:
Once you put anything new into a map (such as a skin) you cannot open it in the world editor without losing all that new stuff. If you do open it in the WE, you will have to go and manually put the skin back into the map to see it in game.

Hope this works for ya!

Lier. Things are only deleted if you save the map after you put it in. Jeez.

I see everyone saying this, BUT ITS NOT TRUE. Sorry....

Really, I actually never knew that, someone told me and I always assumed it was true.

Doesn't make much difference, but nice to know :gfu:
