Seeking experienced playtesters with good play skills in normal maps and AoS, and with the patience to learn and understand a new epic map. Intense fun. The map project is explained under the appropriate section. http://war3.incgamers.com/?p=mod&m=11334 |

Right, this is going off the hook in one of the next days. The map presentation is found here If you like epic, alive feeling battles, if you enjoy intense strategy played out over interesting terrain, and if you are one of those that miss the original warcraft-feeling (and tactics) merged with new ideas, then you should not miss this. Speak up if you're interested! |

Sounds good, I'll give it a shot. EDIT: Where can I download the map? |

I would give it a shot as well, if I could find the map. BTW, the map presentation is NOT found here! |

While Im most certainly not all new to map making, but I'm new to map hosting (this has been my life project, hehe). Can you recommend an upload side to me, perhaps one that it slightly easier to get you stuff uploaded than at wc3campaigns.net? :) I have currently no own web space to put up.. |

okay then Ive been experimenting with related ideas alot lately though i cant say im excited, only because maps like this can be counted on not to meet expectations... |

Depends on the expectations. For example if you're just after custom heroes this is not a map for you. I've kept as much original warcraft3 elements as possible (but didn't get out of my way for it). It's the depth of strategy in this game, and the endless ways to attack your opponent (epic items, fliers, siege weapons?), timing when to join the computer controlled forces and attack (it's not the same spawn paths all the time, so you gotta pay attention to certain big assaults etc), when to defend.. It's the strategy and the fun of big battles that drives this map :) Let me also add. It's NOT made to be simple and first-time 100% playable (and regrettably therefore probably not for the mainstream). It's made for depth. That's why I'd hope you try it a few times; feedback I've gotten is that the map get better as they get to know it. And some say its more fun than Dota. So It's gotta have SOMETHING ;) You can get it here. http://epicwar.com/maps/87681/ |

If it's something that takes a while to get into, it is almost certainly worth it. Downloading now. (thank you, epicwar.com) |

Cool. Let me know what you first impressions is. |

In all honesty, my first impression was not a good one. Over the years I've grown tired of the standard units, heroes and spells, so at first glance this map seems like just another AoS. I'll try it again sometime soon, maybe I can learn to enjoy it. One suggestion: since you're submitting the map to this site, you might want to translate the changelog into English. So yeah, more comments coming soon. |

I'm more looking forward to what rulerofiron wasn't looking for- the 'depth' and concept/strategy needed. I'll try to test it sometime soon. |

Okay, then we simply differ. I WANT the standard heroes and spells. I like Blizz' work much better than all the custom stuff out there, and everyone is familiar with it. Everyone knows how to play the Paladin or Mountain King. Attention should be elsewhere in this game than learning new cheezy abilities. Im actually kind of suprised. You said you looked for depth, but was really looking for new abilities and units. As I said, then this map will probably not be for you :( Abilities don't make a good map. In fact it's just an aesthetical part of it. How it looks when you kill the enemies. Battledawn has enough things you'll have to learn anyways, so keeping that aspect basic I think is a good idea. I hope you'll get to try it once with 4 players on either side, each with own armies clashing, rushing to defence and attacking tactically with fliers, catapults, doomsday devices.. I have never seen anything like that in the AOSs I've tried. ps; I'll just mention that, even though you see the same units on the board, there are subtle differences to make it more interesting. For example ranged units actually has a use compared to the original warcraft3 units. Half HP value on units and twice the range makes archers into something entire different strategically. Siege weapons are slower, but takes like 4 times as much damage. This makes this unit important, unlike it was in war3. Such differences all helps making the choice of units more important. pps; What about the two factions' different town layouts and the map in general? Think that part was alright? |

But Standard heros/abilities arent designed for melee ...so its ok when you keep somehow close to them ..but still you should tweak them to fit the map type a lil better .... |
