Guest | I have just come up with this map idea and i would just like som feedback if it sounds intresting or not. Story The king of the country has grown old and are soon going to die. So he wants his 10 strongest general to fight for the throne. So in the start you choose 1 of 20 generals as your leader. After you have choosen your general you will be able to choose to become a builder so you can build towers, buildings and make an army really fast. He will also get extra gold for every town he owns. Or you could choose to become a freelancer, you would get 1% extra exp from every unit you kill. You get +1% per level of your hero. The last thing you will be able to choose from will be trader. He will basically get 2% extra gold from every item he sells. You will get +2% per level of your hero. After everyone is done with the choosing you set out to battle each other. For 5 mins you cant attack the other players so you dont just choose freelancer and rush kill everyone. How to get income You can get income by owning towns so they pay taxes to you. The gold you get will depend on their size and what they specialize in. You will be able to lower the taxes and raise them. If you lower them you will get a % to get an extra ammount of what your town specialize in. If you raise the taxes you will simply get more gold and have a % that the town will turn against you. Towns will have prebuild buildings wich you can use to either produce units or upgrades for your units or simply buy items. You can get income buy owning trading posts. Trading posts can give you anything from gold to free upgrades. You can get income by doing quest all around the map. Quests will always give a nice exp. But they will always give you some other stuff. Some quests will be repetable some wont. And you can get income by killing creeps around the map. The creeps will give you a good exp but not so much gold. So you cant win by just running around creeping. The last thing you can get an income from is to kill the king and get the main city of the map. This town will give you gold, lumber and some soldiers. Units You will be able to build around 30-40 units each unit will specialize in different abilitys. Like knights will be able to charge units for X amount of damage. Priest will have healing abilitys and be able to debuff your army. Generals, aka heroes They will not be overpowerd but will be able to either boost your army or be able to kill single units fast. You can revive your general by simply visiting a temple and give them an X amount of gold and they will revive your general. Or you could simple wait X amount of seconds and the temple will revive your general for free. You simply win by killing all the other players, you do not win if you kill the king and simply take over the main city. You will only get a great income. This is the ideas i have for now. So basically i just wants some feedback if the map sounds intresting or lame. If i dident make something clear dont be afraid to ask. And sorry if my english wasent that good, and i hope this is the right place to ask. |

Wrong section, otherwise it's kinda...good and bad at certain areas. For example, if the King is choosing 10 generals, then shouldn't there be like a huge boss at the end in which you ALL TEAM UP and defeat? Otherwise he's not really hiring men, he's more like getting assassins which kill other assassins and eventually this leads to his death...or you want it like this? |

Guest | Well what i exactly meant and should i have written was that the king has realised that he is going to die very soon. And he has no one except his generals to take over the throne. But to make it fair for each general he has set up a task that the one that survives all the others will take his place as the rightful king. I just wanted people to be able to betray him. But the people in the country wont really see you as the true king until you have defeated all the other generals. The people in the main city can still betray the general that kills the king before he has killed all the other generals. Hopefully some nice mod can move this thread to its right place then. Edit : Forgot that mention that when no one controls the main city the king will send out resources to every general. So taking over the city will lower every other generals supply with gold and lumber. |

This is the right place for a so called "theorycraft", or a map idea. Its not a real project yet and nobudy is working on it, and general development is just the place to talk about such a thing. Your map sounds verry interesting, but your english is verry poor. The description of what you'll actually be doing in this map is vague but i really like the premise. Story-wise i think it'd be more interesting if the ten dudes that run around where the kings ten sons, and they had to fight for the right to the throne, kind of like stardust lore, wich is probubly the best fairy tale of the decade. I'd like to see some more information on actual systems, how things'll work in-game. Its nice to see these ideas, but they are nothing more. |

I liked that idea that they are hes sons. If this idea becomes a map i will use it if you dont mind. Well at start you will be able to choose 1 hero, after you have choosen one he will spawn with 3 premade abilitys. Builder, freelancer or trader. Each ability will describe what cons and pros each one has. When you have choosen your aspect you will get your starting army and your bonuses. Builder : If you choose builder you will be able to build all the buildings, train all the units and upgrade your units to level 4. Your hero will be a little weaker then freelancer or the traders heroes. Freelancer : He will start with the greatest army and hes hero will receive bonus to his stats and he will get a bonus %. He can build buildings but just the basic buildings. He will be able to upgrade his units to level 1 in his little town. Trader : The trader will get a better army then the builder but not better then the freelancer. He will get some plus in hes stats to. He will get a bonus % exp and bonus gold when ever he sells an item. Items can be found all over the map. He can build a tier 2 town. Just sligthly better then the freelancer but not better then the builder. He can upgrade to level 2 with hes units in hes town. Upgrades : This is what i meant with the level 1-4. The basically gives your units +damage, +armor, + health or other benefits when you research them. Everyone will be able to max their upgrades. But the builder will be able to upgrade all hes units without owning any town. The freelancer and the trader must take over a town to be able to upgrade any further. You can get to level 5 in upgrades by doing some quests for the best blacksmith in the land. You wont be able to rush this quest, you must have level 4 in all the upgrades to get this quest. Trade posts : Trade posts works like in age of empires 3. Basically a unit will go to another trade post and trade. When he comes back you will get something. You can get anything from exp to upgrades. Towns : Their will be this main guy in each town thats acts like major. Get him to 10% hp and he will surrender and give the town to you. Some majors will be weak some will be as strongs as your hero. When a major gives upp his health will be restored to max and everything in that town including the major will be yours. Well thats all i can think of right now. Hope i dident misunderstand you erwtenpeller. |

Guest | Heres an little update on how the map is going. Everything is really going smoothly alone. So far i have the terrain layout done in my head and some units, building and spells are done in my head to. And here are 6 screenshoots of 1 town and 1 camp that you will be able to own. And i got a new idea. When you choose your heroes you would start with a basic army. But the army will depend on what hero you choose. Like if you would choose a ranger hero, you would get units that fits to him. And if you choose a priest you would get units that fit him. I hope you will like that idea. |

Reminds me of the old 'Z', where you only built infantry and vehicles, and had to capture other neutral/enemy territories to gain access to new factories. Anyway, what's the theme for this kingdom? Humans? Elves? Dwarves? Pro-/Anti-Magic? Pro-/Anti-Religion? What role/influence will undead have? How will nighttime influence the gameplay in comparison to daytime? Will your items follow a DotA-style recipe/ingredients/centralized shop setup, or will your factories make and combine items themselves? Will there be a naval aspect? Will their be an aerial aspect? Will there be global game-influencing effects like snowstorms, solar eclipses that create unnatural nights or floods? Will you be able to sent instigators to enemy towns to get them to make the population there rebel against their current regent? How will you deal with uprisings amongst your own population? If there are gods/deities present, could it be possible to offer them sacrifices and tributes in order to favour your side for a short time or battle? How will your resourcing system work? Will goldmines refill themselves periodically, or will you be able to build new ones as you gain the technology? Will you be able to replant trees in order to ensure a continuous supply of lumber? How is your inter-player trade system goin to function - will there be trade ships/carts like AoE, or will it have to be done via the diplomacy screen? How ill your trade in items function - will some items be sold at more than the usual 50% pawn value, or will some items only be worth something if you sell them at a specific point/building? Edit: I have many questions. |

Guest | Your questions are in italic and my answers are in bold. Anyway, what's the theme for this kingdom? The main theme is humans mixed up with different kinds of creatures. Pro-/Anti-Magic? Magic will be used by different units to buff or either give the some ability. What role/influence will undead have? So far undead dont really exist, but who knows what will happen when you play the map. How will nighttime influence the gameplay in comparison to daytime? Some units abilitys will be stronger/weaker depending on the time. Heroes wont be affected by the time. Will your items follow a DotA-style recipe/ingredients/centralized shop setup, or will your factories make and combine items themselves? Their will be a few items, bust most of those items will give bonus to your hole army. Some will just make your hero better. Will there be a naval/aerial aspect? Naval aspect wont be able cause it will take up to much space. Aerial units will exist. Will there be global game-influencing effects like snowstorms, solar eclipses that create unnatural nights or floods? Snowstorms/rain will for sure exist in the game. But any other weather i haven't thought of yet. Will you be able to sent instigators to enemy towns to get them to make the population there rebel against their current regent? I thought about this before but i decided to not have it cause making one unit to do just one thing dont really spice up the game according to me. But i might change that. How will you deal with uprisings amongst your own population? When a town rise against you the chief of that town will raise against you. So you will simply have to take back the town with force. If there are gods/deities present, could it be possible to offer them sacrifices and tributes in order to favour your side for a short time or battle? I was going to add different temples you could build that would benefit your units permanent, but i like this idea more. Hope you dont mind if i use it. How will your resourcing system work? Goldmines wont exist in this map. You will simply have to take over trade posts, lumber mills or towns to get an income. You will also be able to get resources from doing quests or killing different creatures. You will also get gold for killing enemy players units. How is your inter-player trade system going to function - will there be trade ships/carts like AoE, or will it have to be done via the diplomacy screen? It will be done in like AoE that you send away a cart. You wont be able to trade with the enemies. How will your trade in items function - will some items be sold at more than the usual 50% pawn value, or will some items only be worth something if you sell them at a specific point/building? Items will be sold to computer controlled buildings for 40% of their value. Edit: I have many questions. If you got any more questions feel free to ask. Regarding religion i will use the religion(s) that already exist. Or if i get to much in love with the map i will create my own religion(s). |
