I've decided to make an oRPG, but I can't terrain worth crap, so I'm wondering if anyone would like to hop onto my project. Likely the team will consist solely of myself and said terrainer. No working name yet, progress is mostly limited to ideas and inspirations, but working actively on units/abilities/items/etc. If project details become a point of contention then I can post them, but I do intend to do this well, not just some half-assed hack job of an oRPG (which is why I'm looking for good terrainer as well). Requirements: *256x256 playable map size (camera bounds all the way to 256) *central town *diverse geography- plains, forest, snow, blight, arid, accessable plateaus, volcanic, marshy shallow water (use at least those, rest is up to you but those should be enough to fill the map) *no distasteful "blank space"....well-filled and meaningfully filled terrain....don't want to see giant areas of blank grass/snow/dirt/etc, use decorative deformations, hills, plateaus, trees, etc. Those guidelines should fill a map pretty well, but anything else is up to the imagination. Bear in mind I may slightly alter some areas as needed for the placement of monsters/etc, but it will remain on the whole the same. |

First off you're not likely to get anyone for a 256x256 orpg. First that's massive amounts to terrain, second, everyone makes orpgs and they never get finished or they suck... a lot. Now you might get someone, but I think you could do the job yourself. Terrain is not hard at all. Take a week and try making some terrain art (still shots that are not playable). Look at other peoples work for ideas. Then go to work on your orpg. Trust me I know you can terrain well enough for your orpg. If you get farther into production, you could get a quality terrainer to touch your work up for you. Hope that helps. |

To be honest, this sounds like one of those "make my map for me" requests. |
